Now⌠That was a difficult one for me. ZZ Top?
You got it.
But surely that is more than half way there?
Sometimes during live performances Fogerty will sing the âbathroomâ line and that always gets a reaction from the audience.
Oh God I think I am master of mixing up lyrics and not being able to figure out what is being sang lyric wise
Until recently when Jenny performed Cherry bomb by Joanne Jett during one of Community OMs I always thought the song is called Cherry Pie
Yesterday when I was looking for a song Live is life by Opus I was searching for life is life
I would probably come up with 10s of examples if I had more time to think hard about it, but I think two examples above are really good ones
True Oh no⌠Now that Opus song is ringing in my headâŚ
Oh that one I actually know, but havenât listened to for years
And confessedly⌠I would not voluntarily⌠na, na, na,na na Seems they are still at it. Crazy Swedes
Cause if you look deep dreams are nothing but a lie
Sounds like highly philosophical wisdom good old Freud would not have agreed with
Too difficult for me âŚCanât allocate it to any song with correct lyrics
Ops, I didnât only misheard, I also misremembered. The first word wasnât âAndâ but âCauseâ (fixed now)
And the original says:
Cause if you look deep dreams are nothing that I lack
Savatage - Sleep
Me ears are alight!
Ok thatâs stolen from the old ad for Maxell cassette tapes (HOW old am I?)
The one that I only confirmed I had the lyrics wrong recently (after 50-odd years) is Freeâs âAlright Nowâ In the line I thought was âLets move before they raise the f***ing rentâ, the phrase is actually âParking rateâ
For decades I could have sworn they saying âI met a man from Brazilâ in the 2nd verse !!
It was only when I thought about doing a cover and checked the lyrics and found it was Brussels. Now I only hear the latter and still not done the cover. One day but Iâll need a new hat with corks!
Still one of the best music vids of all time !
I can see how you heard that Have to say I almost prefer your version, seems.to be more logical
I have never seen the video, yes itâs really good
Would like to hear you make the cover, maybe you can persuade @elevatortrim to play the flute part
Just noticed, when I watched the video that I have always misheard something in the very same song. They are not singing âCanât you hear the sun laughâ, are they?
My headcanon is that it was originally written my way, then changed for radio play
Thatâs all too possible
Ah, this topic is fun
For me there had been loads of misheard lyrics all the time, because English isnât my native language (as can easily be seen in my posts )
I remember the good old times when we had to survive without the internet. So as a teenager I had to glue my ear to the speaker of my stereo to find out about the lyrics and then make up something out of the poor vocabulary from my English-lessons at school.
An endless source of funny and weird lyrics âŚ
A lot of memories have faded over the years, but here are some examples, I can still remember:
Bohemian Rhapsodyâs âBismillahâ always had been Miss Miller to me.
And the verse âpulled the trigger, now heâs dadâ tought me, how a man becomes a father. Important and useful facts to know for a teenager back in the 80s. Thank you, Queen!
Then I used to sing along to Guns 'n Roses ⌠âI used to love her, but I had tequilaâ.
Many years later I had been really disappointed when I found out about the truth finally. And I wondered if I can happily sing along with the original lyrics. Well, no, I couldnât, and Iâve stuck to the tequila-line ever since
