Sometimes during live performances Fogerty will sing the “bathroom” line and that always gets a reaction from the audience.

Oh God I think I am master of mixing up lyrics and not being able to figure out what is being sang lyric wise

Until recently when Jenny performed Cherry bomb by Joanne Jett during one of Community OMs I always thought the song is called Cherry Pie

Yesterday when I was looking for a song Live is life by Opus I was searching for life is life

I would probably come up with 10s of examples if I had more time to think hard about it, but I think two examples above are really good ones

Cause if you look deep dreams are nothing but a lie

Sounds like highly philosophical wisdom good old Freud would not have agreed with :grinning:

Too difficult for me …Can’t allocate it to any song with correct lyrics :slightly_smiling_face:

Ops, I didn’t only misheard, I also misremembered. The first word wasn’t “And” but “Cause” (fixed now)

And the original says:
Cause if you look deep dreams are nothing that I lack

Savatage - Sleep

Me ears are alight!

Ok that’s stolen from the old ad for Maxell cassette tapes (HOW old am I?)

The one that I only confirmed I had the lyrics wrong recently (after 50-odd years) is Free’s “Alright Now” In the line I thought was “Lets move before they raise the f***ing rent”, the phrase is actually “Parking rate”

For decades I could have sworn they saying “I met a man from Brazil” in the 2nd verse !!
It was only when I thought about doing a cover and checked the lyrics and found it was Brussels. Now I only hear the latter and still not done the cover. One day but I’ll need a new hat with corks! :sunglasses:

Still one of the best music vids of all time !

I can see how you heard that :slightly_smiling_face: Have to say I almost prefer your version, seems.to be more logical :upside_down_face:

I have never seen the video, yes it’s really good

Would like to hear you make the cover, maybe you can persuade @elevatortrim to play the flute part

Just noticed, when I watched the video that I have always misheard something in the very same song. They are not singing “Can’t you hear the sun laugh”, are they?

My headcanon is that it was originally written my way, then changed for radio play :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

That’s all too possible :grinning:

Ah, this topic is fun

For me there had been loads of misheard lyrics all the time, because English isn’t my native language (as can easily be seen in my posts )

I remember the good old times when we had to survive without the internet. So as a teenager I had to glue my ear to the speaker of my stereo to find out about the lyrics and then make up something out of the poor vocabulary from my English-lessons at school.

An endless source of funny and weird lyrics …

A lot of memories have faded over the years, but here are some examples, I can still remember:

Bohemian Rhapsody’s “Bismillah” always had been Miss Miller to me.
And the verse “pulled the trigger, now he’s dad” tought me, how a man becomes a father. Important and useful facts to know for a teenager back in the 80s. Thank you, Queen!

Then I used to sing along to Guns 'n Roses … “I used to love her, but I had tequila”.
Many years later I had been really disappointed when I found out about the truth finally. And I wondered if I can happily sing along with the original lyrics. Well, no, I couldn’t, and I’ve stuck to the tequila-line ever since
