I teach my students to start personal lick library; the first words in a new language that you will continue using the rest of your life.
I noticed that, when improvising, I have some bread and butter licks I play without even thinking about them, chaining them together and using them to decorate some of my chord playing as well…
A lick isn’t just about “which dots in the shape to play”, it gets its flavour from techniques as well. I thought the launch of a new BLIM season would be the ideal timing to start at the very beginning and get you started writing your own words in this language.
Maybe you can show how to create a lick book in guitar pro? I know how to enter basic tabs but tricky rhythms, and bends, curls are (1) quite tedious to enter and (2) get the timing right.

starting such a book/binder on some tab paper. coming up with licks, noting them down,… stealing (simplified/personal) versions from the masters, altering them, combining little words… You will quickly feel like these are YOU. A part of your personal expression.
