Hey, sounds like a thread for me. Been going to Denmark every year to Roskilde Festival, where there are lots of Nordic bands playing, but Iâll start with maybe the most popular artist in Finland J.Karjalainen since this is one hell of a song and very suitable for a guitar learning site,
From Denmark Iâd have some teenage difficulties on the touchy subject of love. Giift is a very small artist, but I was lucky enough to see her perform on the first days of Roskilde (called the warmup, only small Nordic bands). This song is just so full of emotion.
My Icelandic favourites are Dead Skeletons. I do love Sigur Ros and BjĂśrk, of course, but these guys are maybe something new to you.
Swedish pick : Goat. There are two bands with the same name. Be sure to pick this one for psychedelic-afrobeat-rock.
Norway deserves two videos. Sliteneliten are also very small band from the Roskilde warm-up and Katzenjammer already established veterans (I donât know if they are still playing)
Hope I didnât spam you with too many videos from the start. I can easily get carried away sharing music that I love. Itâs also very nice to reciece recommendation from other people so thanks for those. Maybe Iâll even get some more.
I had this thread open for almost two weeks and only now adding to the conversation.
And what a great topic, gonna be listening to all this music for a while. There werenât mentioned that many bands that I know and listen to though. Only one, actually, Blues Pills. Thanks to Spotify algorithms for that, theyâre great. Listened to all their albums a few months ago.
Anyway, there are some artists that I have to mention.
First of all, one of my favourite bands ever, Poets of the Fall. I can talk a lot about them, but itâs better to listen to their music instead.
Now Viikate, another Finnish band that was recommended to me by a Finnish instructor when I was in the army. No idea what theyâre singing about, but it doesnât make their music any worse.
I also have to mention Apocalyptica, theyâre amazing.
And two Finnish metal bands at the end, Battle Beast and Beast In Black.
And just recently Iâve watched Rite Here Rite Now, the concert movie by Ghost.
If youâre a fan of the band, then watch it! All I have to say is Tobias Forge is a genius. And what a great band Ghost is.
