Do you have an Audio Interface (AI) at home and PC/Laptop?
I would suggest if you are serious about performing at OMs and want it to become a regular thing then it makes sense to get an AI, dynamic mic and mic stand. Then you can practice at home and become familiar, learn and develop some basic mic technique.

(Apologies, Iām having a bit of trouble with quote functionality).
@frito
I agree about using a practice set-up at home. My practice set up is different to @DavidP ās suggestion though. I have a dynamic mic on a stand into a powered PA speaker in the music room.
Iām not saying mine is better (or worse) than Davidās, just different. Either may suit you better.
I have batted around the idea of getting a mic, interface, etc. ever since viewing the home recording lesson in Grade 2 Module 14. I have multiple times looked at the gear online and backed away from going through with the purchase. As of now, I would rather, I would rather use the funds to take my 12 string to a luthier for a proper setup and possibly add electronics. Oh, if somebody would plant that money tree in my back yard.
That being said, my son-in-law has commented in the past we should start a weekly jam session but we just havenāt gotten it going. He has a mic and all the recording gear so that could be a possibility vs. spending the cash right now.
That sounds like a cool setup.
I have recently been thinking about that as well. While not the perfect solution since there are differences between acoustic amps and electric amps (I would be lying if I said I fully understand the differences) I did plug my six string into my Orange amp that I have for my hollow body, one to make sure the electronics in the guitar were functioning properly and two, to try to get used to hearing the guitar sound coming from behind.
I truly hope your medical issues settle down and you can get back to playing and make it to that big stage. You have been such an inspiration on these forums. And thank you for kind words on my performance.
Thanks, Joe, things are much much better and I did perform at a couple of Community OMs in the latter end of last year. The Live OMs, who knows. Would be a long road and not sure I have the energy to put those hours in. Not so much the practice but the evenings out, the drive their and back, makes alate night and I am trying to be as regular as possible with sleep patterns in the week.
