My first recording - and more!

As promised in my re-introduction post, I’d like to share with you a sample of the music I create. But first-a few words of explanation.
I’ve never been a professional musician, even though years ago I happened to play a gig or two…
I played mostly covers of pop and rock hits, and I still play and record instrumental versions of songs that I like. Mostly, however, I create my own music. The process typically begins by recording one of the chord progressions played during my daily practice routine that I find nice and promising. I then add more background chords or simply just a solo track. The link below leads to an example of the simplest approach: two guitar lines overdubbed:

For those interested the chord progression is a simple Dm7-Bb-Eb-A7alt. The solo is pure improvisation not prepared beforehand.
Edit: I’ve just added a link to another track on SoundCloud: My first recording - and more! - #11 by Coda I hope you’ll like it.
And one more:

Wow. Thanks for sharing Tomasz and welcome back to the community (hadn’t said that in the other thread yet :slightly_smiling_face:)

This is very, very beautiful. In my ears, your sketch sounds like an evening in late summer, the sun is just about to set, the sky has this wonderful shade of blue like just before the sun is going down, there is a mild, gentle wind, a large meadow swaying in green and gold, swans flying by and landing in a nearby lake…

Are you going to keep working on this? Did you have a story in mind you want to tell (and most probably that’s very different than the movie playing in front of my inner eyes…)?

Thanks so much JokuMuu for the kind words and, most of all, for building such a nice scenery around this simple tune… I don’t think my imagination went so far while creating it; what I had in mind was just tranquility with a hint of tension, as the fast runs at the end of each sequence are based on an A-altered scale…

I saw you mentioning an altered scale in your decscription on soundcloud, yes. I’m lacking music theory knowledge (though I’m learning by bit and am fascinated) thus my associations instead of analysis.

Glad to know that I picked up on the slight underlying tension (“summer is dying fast”) :sunny:

This was simply beautiful Tomasz!

I must confess that I’d already read Nicole’s @JokuMuu post & so the imagery in my head was very similar except that I didn’t imagine swans - I felt the presence of fireflies & their patterns (but not patterns at the same time) in the meadow… sun settling on the other side of the lake with that shimmer of gold on the water…

This etude is an absolute treasure! Thank you for posting!

Thanks a million for the kind and encouraging words, and also for supporting my request for the post to be moved. I still hope it can be done…

Great! Thanks so much, Richard_close2u. I promise to be more careful next time I’m posting.

Lovely, melodic piece, Tomasz.

I hate you! Why you call this simple? Lol. This was beautiful!

@Allaxxor : I’m so glad you liked it that I can even bear with it that you hate me :wink::smiley:
I take it that you prefer the recordings made without the drum computer… Strangely, so do I, that’s why the drum machine appears rarely in my songs.

I’m adding a link to another recording in, more or less, the same style, something I call ‘Etude for Two Guitars’. Just quiet, relaxing improvisation, the kind of playing I enjoy most and I hope you will enjoy listening to…
Critical remarks are always welcome and considered.

And one more representing a similar approach, you know, ‘third time lucky’ as the saying goes…
