Greetings from Oklahoma! Just bought an electric guitar nearly a month ago. I’ve been saying for basically my whole life I was going to learn and never made an attempt. Turned 53 last week so an old dog learning new tricks. Got a first lesson at the shop where I bought my guitar and told them I was using Justin Guitar as well. Someday I’ll be shredding some Billy Squier but for now I am just annoying my dogs and wife! So working great! Already built up some great callouses and am in working on changes in beginner 1. Many times I think my fat fingers won’t ever get it and other times I am happy with the practice. It’s quite funny how my fingers will be doing just fine and then It’s like I have no control of them. I know to take a break at that point. Anyhoo… i am dedicated and will work on this the rest of my days without doubt. Love it so much it has already cut into my golf time. Which if you know me, that’s a big deal

My advice to ’newbies’ is to get a stand or wall hanger for your guitar… when it’s always ready & easy to pick up, you’ll find it easy to use those few minutes of spare time while you’re waiting for something. I like to use the time while the coffee 
is brewing or when my wife says “Ready in just a minute, Love!” 
Also, make sure to find ways to keep it lots of fun! If you’re smiling every time you pick up your guitar, you’ll never give up!

Justin teaches very well. He explains very well and his course is concise and in order for the best possible learning.
Depending on your situation, that may be very good too.
While I don’t golf myself, I got a buddy here in the community that does. He tells me that playing music is cheaper than golf. Perhaps that’s a win too.
fwiw, I came from boating. And for sure. Playing guitar is cheaper than boating by a lot. So I had my win too.

lol. Thanks. Bad news for me. Boating is my 3rd thing I did get an Amp. Little Rockville model that seems to be good… for now. Somewhere down the road it’ll need an upgrade because I haven’t heard the neighbors complain yet.
I’m on it! Got a stand and I pick it up all the time and strum my chords for good measure. If my wife and I are watching the ol tube it’s a great commercial item! Hi back at you bud!

Hey Brian. Welcome to the community. I’m originally from Kansas so we were nearly neighbours. I started playing 15 years ago at the age of 53 and justin guitar was a big part of my learning. My wife has said many times how glad she is that I decided to learn to play as it’s taken us to places and people that just wouldn’t have happened otherwise. Look forward to hearing more from you.
Hi Brian, welcome to our community from New Orleans. At 75 it’s good to see a youngster get the guitar bug. I think you’ll be surprised to see how fast your fingers get the message and start working correctly. Time management is important, particularly when golf is involved. I’m sure you’ll figure out how to adequately handle both.

Funny, I’m a bit the other way around. I’ve found myself playing a bit of golf this summer. Well, that’s a bit of an exaggeration- Two of my friends usually go for a walk with me on Monday mornings, but if the weather’s nice, we’ve started going to the local public, six-hole, par 3 golf course instead (shortish holes, artificial greens). We have a good laugh. Today I went round averaging two over par, without losing a ball! Unheard of! 
Well worth the tenner
If/when you get the urge to record yourself playing something on your phone, go for it. It can give you a great feeling of progress as well as belonging.
