OK, that song made my day! That is hilarious! Thank you for that! and the warm welcome!
Thanks Roger! I will let you know when I get that far!! I think it will be a great skill to have! Although, I know it will a while before I can do it with any real fluency.
well, you know what they say, the best time to take up guitar is 20 years ago, the 2nd best time is today! I’ll just keep getting that time in for now.
I’ve been on and off with practice habits, depending on my motivation. Early last year I’d plateaued and really lost motivation. Basically I was bored just playing at home, alone and not having anything to work toward. That pushed me to find the community college classes and the public gig. I had more focus on my practice since I had to build a set list and expand my song repertoire, and playing with others pushed my skills and confidence.
Stay motivated, my friend… wishing you success…
Welcome to the community Daniel, have fun!
Welcome!
Hi Daniel, welcome to the community. There are a lot of great Song Lessons on the JG website to learn to accompany singing.
Hello Daniel.
Welcome to JustinGuitar and this fantastic community. There a whole host of golden oldies over in the dog house.
Please take your time to look around and get to know the wider space. View by Categories.
We are a supportive and encouraging group of students and guitarists from across the world. Essentially, we are all here for music and to improve as players. We truly are a ‘community’. Members help and support one another and a friendly, positive attitude underpins this. We hope that all - young or old, experienced or new players - adopt and foster the pay-it-forward ethos that Justin personifies and embedded all those years ago when he started the website and forum.
Also, please make sure to read the Community Etiquette announcement for some important information and guidance.
If you want to record yourself to show your progress and / or seek feedback there is our ever popular Community Recordings section.
Behind the scenes there is a small and dedicated team who work to make the JustinGuitar experience as good as it can be. Check out the Onboarding sessions provided by Fanny.
Justin also has a small group of Approved Teachers he recommends for people wanting 1-to-1 lessons to supplement his courses - of which I am privileged to be one.
We also host regular (virtual) JustinGuitar Community Open Mic events for community members.
That is plenty to be going on with. It is a vast community space so if you need help as you find your way around just ask.
Cheers. Richard

Hi Richard! Thank you for the message. I am plugging away at the stage 1 beginner course. I’m on module 6 now. My plan has been to spend about 8 to 10 days on each module and see how I do. I’m definitely seeing progress and trying to focus on the wins instead of how bad I am! LOL I think when I get to a point where I’ve got some of the mechanics into muscle memory, I’ll probably look to get some 1:1 instruction. I thin going from never having played anything on guitar to now being able to hold the pick and strum through some chords, however sloppy they might be, is something to keep me motivated! I am playing daily!
Yea, I sing in a band now so, I’ll guys to play with when I get to point where I can actually hold down the rhythm and get my chord changes solid. So, I think that goal is keeping me motivated!
Hi Daniel, very nice to meet you, cheers Hec
