Old Faithful strumming pattern finally put to use

Wow, last night I was at a ukelele get together (this applies to guitar as well) and while playing a song I found myself finally hearing, feeling, and playing the Old Faithful strumming pattern. a few more songs got called out to play, and again, Old Faithful just seemed to automatically kick in. After weeks of trying to force myself to make it fit, or to try and ‘hear’ it in a song, it all just seemed to come together by itself. The only thing I noticed with playing that pattern was that it threw my timing off on singing a bit here and there, but I’m sure that too will come. I was more focused on keeping that strumming pattern going than the singing part. Won’t be long before that too becomes 2nd nature and I just find myself playing it without thinking about it much. I’m nearing the end of Grade 2 in the course after about a year and loving it. Thanks JG. Well worth the $$.

Well done Jim and happy first guitar year with Justin cheers Hec

Positive reinforcement is a wonderful thing, innit?

Well done persevering, and thanks for the encouragement.

Thanks! I’m still completely overwhelmed by the positive support from others on JG.
I’d posted a video on Facebook, of me playing guitar on a song I wrote a while back. One guy took the time to say ‘You suck’. I thanked him for his response and said to have a nice day. Good to know others appreciate ‘fine music.’

Congratulations. I remember that feeling well. And even more so my wife was particularly exuberant when she was able to do it.

Plan to learn plenty of other patterns as time passes. You need more than one arrow in your quiver

Thats awesome Jim. Great job. Its reall cool when its becomes sort of second nature and you can let your mind think about other things like lyrics or the music around you. Great feel.

Keep up the amazing work.
