Greeting and salutations future guitarists, and I hope this message finds all of you well.
I hope that you all are having a wonderful day so far.
Pardon me for interrupting you and your time, however, I wanted to let you know that I achieved of being able to surpass 60 chord changes (62 to be exact), and I’m still in the beginner’s course (Grade 1, Module 4).**
The one-minute chord change was changing from Am to Em chords.
Although, it might be easy to some but difficult for others (not to be rude or anything)
Not to be a bragger about or be cocky about (even though I am extremely and humbly proud of it), but I wanted to see who can beat that record of excelling pass 62 chord changes in one, single minute (60 seconds).
Think you’re up for the challenge, let me know in the comments, and please let me know if you were able to surpass 62 chord changes in one-minute using Am to Em chords or any other chords you have in mind.
This is totally up to you all, if you choose to, awesome, if not, no worries.
That’s all for now!
Thank you for taking the time out of your time to read this post.
Have an awesome day and remember to stay bold and to stay fearless.
Well done!!! That’s a very good achievement for a new to guitar player to achieve!!!
I’m in Justin’s Grade 3 & so I haven’t timed myself doing the Am to Em OMCs for quite a while now. That said, I’m pretty certain that 30 good sounding & clean chord changes was the minimum number I would allow before moving on - I would normally try for 35-40 as my goal. I don’t remember the exact number, I never wrote them down… but in response to your challenge (& also out of curiosity), I just timed myself on that particular change. Am-Em clocked at 82 OMCs.
See what sticking with guitar can do for you!
My favorite chord change is C to G & back… it’s even faster than Am- Em!!!
Slowest changes are any involving F chords or the evil Dm… Dm is my least favorite chord & the one I’m most likely to goof up!
Keep going with your OMCs & your numbers will keep growing!!!
Good luck!!!
One minute changes are a great way to practice chord changes. I use the one min chord changes often. Work on feeling the burn amd going faster and faster. Then use the perfect chord changes to make them absolute. In conjunction you will be so solid. Then you can use the technique in the future.
For example I am learning a new song that has a fast chord change of A minor with a C Base using that Pinky finger to a Bb sus2 and back. Then also there is a Dmin to a Bb sus2 which is a little easier. But tricky if you dont do them a lot. I am still slow with it so I have just incorporated them into my dailys.
I should soon have less trouble with those chord changes (hopfully)
Keep working it, lots of great chord combos to work on. G and Am is a good one and of course C and G. Also D, A and E has the nice anchor finger.
Justin will get to all this shortly. You have so much fun stuff coming.
Like you said, Everyone is different, some will find certain chord changes difficult whilst other will find those easy. There are a LOT of chord changes to do in Grade 1 and by the time you get to the end of grade 1 some of your chord change wll hit 100+ so don’t worry what others can achieve, only yourself.
