Oh, these are really kind words. Thanks a lot :hugs:. It was a great night for us debutants. I enjoyed your performance very much. Haven’t heard the song in a while and was happy that you’ve brought it back to my mind .

Hello Tjeerd, you perfectly described it. So interesting that you experienced it the same way as I did .

And many thanks for your kind words about my performance :hugs:.

BZ to the debutantes; @NicoleKKB , @rorystrat , and @Eccleshall . Each of you “owned” your performance, and unlikely anyone could have guessed as you seamlessly fitted right in with the line-up … :sunglasses:
Hopefully I’ll make the next one in May; the bar has been set high enough for me to limbo under … :upside_down_face:

Thanks so much @liaty & @TheMadman_tobyjenner for your kind words guys! Awesome efforts reviewing the show, loved reading through your analysis!
@liaty - Outstanding performance mate! My parents played that track a lot at parties when I was growing up (being the kid pretending to fall asleep in the corner but really having one eye open on what’s going on :face_with_peeking_eye: ) and I have a real soft spot for it. I thought you nailed it the tone and vibe brilliantly with your slide guitar technique, super impressive! :star_struck:
@TheMadman_tobyjenner - wasn’t the same without you playing mate! I say you should have default spot at the end of every OM regardless of numbers!

Sorry I couldn’t make the live - I just finished listening to the performances. They really are a joy to listen to. Well done everyone, especially the debuts.

@notter Mark - nice dynamics on the chorus transition. Like the tempo variations in the strumming patterns. A great demo for us all to learn from!

@davidp Real folky atmosphere you projected there Dave. One of the choruses, it sounded like you had the vocals doubled up - don’t know if it was just an artifact of Zoom, but it sounded awesome! Loved the looper/solo section and esp that last lovely grungy chord!

@nicolekkb Superb debut Nicole - you nailed the rhythm with some textbook strumming

@sgtcolon Very nicely done Stefan - I was listening to the vocal melody, and it sounds really quite tricky - congratulations for killing it.

@malz Loved this song when it first came out. Really original arrangement you came up with - loved the harmonies.

@Willsie Enviable finger picking skills there. Beautifully sung. Very short piece, but so powerful!

@rossco01 Nice to see someone else uses karaoke-version Jason! I didn’t know the song, but it sounded great - you projected a new wavy-punky feel perfectly.

@rorystrat I wasn’t familiar with this song at all, and it wasn’t what I expected from a Jam member, but I really liked it. Spot on with the vocals and accompaniment!

@elevatortrim I don’t know what you were planning to do originally, Serhat but I’m glad you did that song - absolute classic - loved it!

@TRJ Did you grow up in the Mississippi Delta? That was superb - your voice really suits the song, and the guitar playing was to die for.

@eccleshall … and that, ladies and gentlemen is how you do chord changes. Excellent technique there Ruaridh - stunning debut!

@eric.lennon Eric Wow - that was a seamless grafting of Cat in there. Seriously clever stuff!

@Adi_mrok Flawless riffing and - holy crap, was that a two full tone bend in the solo? Awesome!

@liaty Wow - didn’t expect that! That’s a really nice touch of mellow with that lovely reverby slide. Very tasty.

@TheClueLessLuthier Ah your duets are always a joy to listen to. The harmonies really sound lovely.

@Brianlarsen You brought the whole band Brian - nice touch with the stealth drummer! Great performance as always - the mandolin and guitar work beautifully together in the mix as the pros say!

@Mari63 Fantastic playing - enviable self-accompaniment skills there. That was advanced level stuff - well done!

@ToshS Some powerful storytelling there - you made the story come alive!

@Charlie_James Fantastic song, with an incredibly difficult guitar accompaniment timing. Super playing and singing, seriously congratulations for attempting that one! Love the way you crank it up for the later verse.

@jenndye429 Good grief - I can’t believe the stylistic variety we get here! Amazing performance - totally conveyed the feel of the song - now I want to go out and riot!

@jkahn Great song peformed perfectly JK - only objection was that it ended too soon.

@nzmetal Ah great playing Jeff - you win a dragon suit for that one!

Thanks for that Jeff, really appreciate it. But I like to keep the big picture in mind and like many off us veterans, am happy to volunteer to step down if required. And for me its win win, as other areas are developing faster without the added distraction, as much as I love doing the OMs. :+1:

Thanks for that Phil :slightly_smiling_face:

Thanks for the kind comments Phil, yes I did kind grow up in the Delta, the Meuse, Rhine and Scheldt Delta between Rotterdam and Antwerp  Not known for the Blues though.

Kind words, Phil. Very much appreciated.

You definitely should  . Performing at the JG OM is a great experience. It forced me to really focus on that one song when practicing (although I did some sidesteps too, to avoid boredom :innocent:). And fluffs seem to be part of the game, at least in mine .

Hi Phil, appreciate you taking the time to watch the reply and share your comments for everyone, I love reading everyone’s take on the whole show!

And of course thanks for the thoughts on my own slot, I’m not sure too many people have called out something I’ve done as being a good example for all  . Does that mean I should quit whilst I’m ahead!!

(not a chance BTW!)

Big shout out to @liaty, @TheMadman_tobyjenner and @twistor59 for taking the time to review individual performances. I shall just piggyback on the shoulders of giants and say ‘me too’
A couple of extra shout outs for all the first-timers, esp @NicoleKKB so early on her journey, all the ‘attitude’ metal heads (you know who you are!), @Notter for hosting and revealing what the Trio+ should sound like and of course all the stalwarts whose performances I have so often enjoyed in the past and continue to look forward to each time.
I’ll probably take a rain-check on the next one (my batteries take longer to recharge every time )
I’ll see if I can post a solo recording later in AVOYP, as this was a song I’ve been using to practice a couple of techniques I’ve been avoiding on my journey. It’s not quite there yet, but I’m getting a bit tired of it and would hate to really ‘lose my religion’ by flogging the poor nag much further
Thanks again to everyone involved

@twistor59 thanks for the comment, Phil. It’s nice to have the recording to watch the Open Mic later when you’re not able to attend, isn’t it? I’ve done that a few times.
