And while conscripted into the army in those dark years, I’d visit Hillbrow regularly, visit the places mentioned in the song. Sadly I would not visit Hillbrow today and walk those streets. In post-Apartheid South Africa it is no longer a safe place.

Thit was a cool song, one of my favorite things about these live open mic with this group is the different types of music I always hear in different languages. It is not the same run of the mill stuff I would normally hear from my fellow countrymen and country women in my hometown necessarily.
I really love my international friends at justins. Thanks David.

I enjoyed the show, I just missed missed a few songs after Brians first until when it was my turn. Saturdays are a bit tight timing-wise and at the moment, I benefit from playing my things through before it’s my turn. But I remember seeing a bit of Artem and later wondering about a strange language song and knowing David was from South Africa it had to be Afrikaans.
I hope I’ll be even better prepared and more relaxed in future open mics soon in order to be able to listen to everyone before me!
I’m looking forward to the recording!

Thanks Dominique. I know I keep on repeating myself but really you are doing well and have every reason to be more relaxed, the progression from your first open mic performance.

Another great open mic! I enjoyed everyone’s performances and am glad I got to share the stage with everyone!
Each OM gives me a concrete goal - learn a song well enough to perform and add to my repertoire, and it’s been very motivating!
While I can play Stop Messin’ Round well at ~100bpm, the original tempo of 128bpm is quite challenging. I couldn’t get LogicPro to slow down the stems and export a backing track without adding a click track… So I decided to go for it, learn from the experience and figure out what I need to work on next :). I had a few more mistakes than I hoped for - but I appreciate all the positive comments in the chat! At least everyone liked my tone

unfortunately its 2am for me but in hindsght I know this is Spanish Classical but have you ever had a go at arranging the Concierto de Aranjuez ? Beautiful piece.
