Opinion on Boss KATANA HEAD 3 & Boss Katana Cab 212 2x12

Yeah you guys are right. Its easy to get stuck in a mind frame and not be open. A person should not be too afraid of a little progress.

My wife and I were watching that Bob Dylan movie the other night and we were was howling about how it was such a huge controversy moving from all acoustic sound to the evils of electric guitar. :smiling_face_with_horns:
Sounds ridiculous today, but i guess it was real back then.

Of course, I use modeller (qc) as well as it is more convenient. I mentioned consideration with weight in my first post. But since this will be stationary, it is a great opportunity for tube amp. :slightly_smiling_face:

Totally agree about a place for both. Some things are total leaps forward and others are just a marketing tool that really adds nothing to the game. On-line is forever getting saturated with non-sense and has also destroyed brick and mortar retail so there is no longer the on hand inventory to test drive. Its why sites\communities like this are becoming so vital for sharing knowledge and hands on experience.
I’m in Columbus Ohio…guest\visitors are always welcome. Like this site attitude over talent rules

100% - In Timmy’s shoes, I’m getting a Plexi and a couple of Marshall 4x12s

Metallica always sounded better in the early days with Marshalls.

I really learnt a lot about amps and sound and space from this post. Thanks Adrian for going into all that in such detail.

Totally agree with you Ian. It becomes yet another rabbit hole from which we never return :guitar: :musical_notes:

Thanks Ian, in my early 20s for 18 months I worked at the Wolfson Sound and Vibration Laboratory at Southampton Uni as a Lab Tech. and I learnt a bit about SPL and how we perceive sound in general. They had an Anechoic Chamber and two very large echo chambers. We would set up and accurately measure for example sound/noise from speakers, amplifiers, transformers, ships horns, panels made to vibrate from industrial equipment and analyse them and find ways to improve them, either making them quieter or improving frequency response. Sometimes we made very accurate recordings at industrial sites of sound or vibrations to assess the impact and risks on local communities.

With amps and speakers generally there can be a big misconception that big and more power is best, for HiFi and live music reproduction. It’s really about what is best for the venue, scenario and environment.
