I performed live because a friend asked me to join him. Otherwise I would have no desire to do it again. I personally don’t have enough slice of ham in me to truly enjoy it. What’s worse is showing up on time and knowing what you are going to play is boring and uninspiring – a bit like work actually. I can catch a spark of inspiration, pick up my guitar and record a live session anytime.
Try it and see if you like it. It was heady for me at first, as I played out on Sunset Strip a few times, and with a friend, other than that I can take it or leave it. There’s a full range of things like dealing with a sound guy to other oddities tied to the venue (schlepping gear, etc). I’ll do just about anything once, and if it’s fun I will do it over and over again. LOL
