Pixie in Scotland

Hi all. My name is Stephanie and I live in beautiful Scotland. I’ve been playing guitar on and off for 3 years (thanks to my adhd i have trouble sticking with one hobby for very long!) but have not gotten very far with it.
I started Justin’s course this week and have already made major progress (anchor fingers, what a game changer!).

Hello Stephanie, welcome to the community forum. Justin has a great plan for keeping you focused. Short 5 minute intervals in the practice schedule and an emphasis on playing songs to keep you interested. It certainly has helped me. Have fun learning to play guitar.

Thank you everyone, i feel very welcomed here  thanks to another thread I’ve discovered 2 guitar podcasts to listen to, Wong Notes, and A History of Rock and Roll in 500 songs. Should be interesting!

Welcome, Stephanie, always wanted to visit Scotland. This is, indeed, a great place to learn, I only started in January and I am amazed what I can do having never held a guitar before this. I’m sure you’ll do great.

I’m both happy you’ve found something that works for you and sorry it’s taken you so long to find it!
Ive found that the lessons about anchor fingers and tapping my foot to the beat have really helped. What’s helped you the most, if you don’t mind my asking?

Practice. Especially since the Practice Assistant was added to the website, so I can see how much I’ve been practicing, or not as the case may be, and if not that helps me hold myself accountable.

Hello Stephanie!

Welcome to the community!

I agree with theoldman66, using the dashboard and using the lessons practice routines there, really gives you a great structure.

For me, the mantra of practicing perfect and slow before speeding up is pretty good too. But he will explain this in detail soon in the course.

I believe, if you stick with the course for a few months you’ll fall in love with the guitar again.

At least that’s what it did for me, I’m only 8 months in and feel like I really found my love for the instrument.
I started with digital music production, but I couldn’t wrap my head around learning to play the keyboard and music theory with online learning material for years.
This course immediately clicked with me. It’s good fun.

Wish you good progress and lots of fun!

Hi Stephanie,
Welcome and i wish you a lot of fun :sunglasses:
And a busy head can come in handy with such a complicated hobby as guitar where you can learn 10+ new things in a day for many months in a row and still not know everything…and if you manage to start the theory course you have a nice distraction to think about during the quiet hours…
Greetings,Rogier

Hi all. So the last couple of days I haven’t been feeling as motivated, but I worked on module 4 today and had fun playing some songs.
Just need to push through these times of ‘eh’ and keep going!
