Hi and welcome to the forums!
The force needed to press a string to the fret is not super high no matter the gauge. When you get into bends, you will notice though. A string bend is pushing the string a lot further and you are targeting a pitch change, so the force needed is higher and in a direction your fingers are not used to pushing.
Power chords are common for finger-style blues in that a shuffle is simply a 2-string power chord. I do not notice any significant tension difference to fret on a low-action electric versus a higher-action hollow body with wound third string and larger strings.
Be sure you are not trying to press the strings too hard. They only need to go to the fret with a bit more force to hold them in place, they do not need to be pushed to the fretboard.
If you are getting buzzing on the ring finger, I notice that instead of pressng harder, it is better to scoot it closer to the pinky to bring it closer to the fret. This has taken a fair bit of practice for me to control that finger in this way. I shift to a 2-finger grip once the frets are too close together to fit my ring finger and pinky and gt a clean string ringing.
