First off let me state that this is not a complaint. It’s just a quick heads up for people down under that might just leap in before fully checking out the cost involved.
I was going to order the practice dice as it looks like a fun idea. But when you convert it from uk pounds to nz dollars it more than doubles the price. Then you get to the order page and both the merch site and andertons charge nearly the same price again for shipping to nz. In the end a fun 25 pound toy was going to cost between $115 and $125. Not happening.
So, like I said, not a complaint but watch out before just hitting send.
I admit that shipping charges and exchange rates make JG physical products quite expensive in some countries. I was looking for the Food for Thought book, but it was like $120 CAD. I passed
The JG songbook, on the other hand, can be found on Amazon Canada. This, I guess, might have some pros and cons, but the price was reasonable at $50 CAD and I bought all of them
Yeah, I’m a very active Freemason, and I’ve bought Masonic books from England where the shipping was more than the book. So I usually try to buy a few at a time to spread the cost out a little.
I’m no economist, but I’m pretty sure this isn’t right. The price is the same, you are just paying in a currency that is less valuable. That’s like saying my morning runs got 60% longer when I moved from the US, where they were 3 miles, to Italy, where they were 5 km.
In any case, you should just be happy that you don’t live in Japan!
Craig - you make a point that I’m sure Justin and the team would like to be made aware of.

I was thinking you could just order a set of Dungens and Dragons dice and making sure you get the right sizes.
Looks like the D-12, D-10, the D-8, and D-6 the you could match up the number and with a paper answer key of whats on the justin dice. You keep the paper in a container with the die.
Its a get around for people who can’t have the dice delivered in time or at all.
I find these dice a really nice thing and really wanted a set!
Now I did the research about shipping and VAT+customs here in Germany too… It would cost 75 € Euro in total, buying from Andertons. Strange that I’ll have to pay VAT here later on the total cost including the 16GBP shipping. All the costs added I think it’s crazy, we’re nearly neighbors and things were lots easier not so long ago!
If there’d be a few germans being sure they’d want them, we could also order together to one of us and then forward the dice via our national mailing. Being 2 or better 3 or 4 would decrease the cost quite a bit.
That’s a good idea, as it at least saves the cost of multiple shippings. I would be up for it! Let’s see, if a few other fellows might join.
75 Euros for a fun addition is a little too much and more than double the price of the dice as such. But I guess these are the things that are beyond JG to be changed as tax rules are tax rules. *sighs
We know these high shipping fees are no fun to see Unfortunately, this is the reality of shipping globally when we’re working with limited quantities.
We’re looking into other channels and options, but things aren’t as simple as expected with taxes and customs, and we’re trying to avoid shoppers getting unexpected charges.
We need a partnership with Thomann …as if it were easy…do not take me seriously please…but surely JustinGuitar is a prestigious name and brand internationally speaking.
I had the same thought, Silvia. But on the other hand, I assume it is not easy to get the big players in.
FWIW, I think most of us did not want to complain or anything. There are things beyond our control (taxes and shipping) which we are aware of and have to accept (unfortunately). But finding creative workarounds to at least save some shipping costs is a good way to start and to do something we can control.
Me too! Looking forward to tomorrow’s lesson and all the others coming up for the dice. I think they can really add some value in practice, spicing things up a little.

So, I see here I’m the only one who is a big supporter of ‘shipping costs’ and raising them significantly on most products . I/we often get surveys from the CBS and some other organizations ( shipping costs is our biggest expense ,so I’m not just preaching to my own choir ), and I’m convinced that we think more carefully about whether we think we need something if the shipping costs start to approach the value (real costs) of ordering everything from everywhere… don’t shoot me, please, find a piano player for that
