Wow you’re really coming along with that song! I remembered about a week ago that it was something I wanted to learn, had tried I think the first page and then set it aside when you first posted JJ playing it. I put it back on my listening playlist the week ago, and I just went and printed out the tab. All 13 pages!
I was wondering if you were tuned down half a step but I see now you’ve said you aren’t. The only reason I can see for that on an instrumental piece is for the bends, but you’re doing great on them. Keep at it. Eventually I’ll post my cover too.
And that is a beautiful guitar you’re playing, looks and sound. I’m looking for my dream guitar and a Maton might very well be it but there’s I think 1 dealer in Canada, so it’s not in the cards for me. It’s lovely to hear them played though.
Well done, Rob. Demonstrates the progress made in all you have been doing.
As for me, I confess the song doesn’t move me at all. If/when I progress further with finger-style (seem to be largely focused on the playing and singing of simple songs for OMs) then I shall have to find another to stretch myself … perhaps Landslide, which I suspect may not be as challenging, but a song I would love to be able to play and sing.
My apologies, back to you … when might we wtach you playing this? And I promise I will watch, even if the song is not on my personal playlist or dream list … that doesn’t enter into my watching of fellow Community members playing.
AH it’ll need some practice before I film it! But yes I will. Its a very interesting sequence to play with some great techniques to practice. And it isnt The Chain which scares me.
Ah on JG for 2 years now, the last year has been a lot of consolidation and playing with fingerstyle blues etc.
I’ve slowly pushed on with lessons but I should really get on and work on some more of the intermediate ones and back to a proper practice schedule and focused song learning, I think I’ve been trying to work on and learn too much at once and been all over the place…
OK quick update - working my way through Grade 4 major scale maestro , on ‘moving between scale patterns’
I’ve kinda been all over the place before and done the whole E blues scale for a bit , whilst this isnt revision its going ok , 2 patterns so far.
Using ableton live to record/loop a few different backing tracks ( G/D/Em/C etc) mostly acousticish , then play over the top and its going ok
Still working on a few songs in the background (knockin on heavens door etc).
Enjoying my new tuner (petersons strobeclip HD) seems to be very accurate but you have to remember you have set it to a capo mode otherwise you’ll end up in the wrong tuning haha
