Hey, you have to share what you spent the money on!
one thing or all the things ?
I may have said guitar but obviously Iād be reluctant to admit to it in these forums for fear of being ejected itās a very well specced guitar and really good looking too
You really enjoyed them, and still regret it?
Weird!
On here everyone will hold hands and jump with you
But if you arenātā crazy about the sound on your Bullet, then I donāt think itās a bad idea.
Uhhh well ,
I have quite funny examples (like all the wild evenings in the pubs ), but now on a more serious level ā¦
if I bought something, letās say a guitar for 666 euros, for example a silver Fender, and I was so proud, happy, filled with happiness, etcā¦ but 4 years till 2 years ago that was a lot of money for us, and while it was still very beautiful hanging on the wall after the day I bought my much lighter PRS that was 3 times as expensive I never touched it ā¦ and the Prs which now also hangs nicely on the wall after I got the even lighter Ibanez not played much too (my wife wonāt let me sell the Fender because this was my first dream guitar brand/model) even I donāt play it.
And 5 minutes in a month is more than good for a guitar, my darling says
Oh, I bought a car for a lot of money this year and although I enjoy it a lot and my wife has to lift a lot less with that wheelchair, I am still not too happy with the money that this comfort had to costā¦
my back hardly hurts after a half-hour journey but the money that that tin cost ā¦
overpriced fishing gear and ā¦no no i stop
at least 4 more examples come to mind
Donāt talk to your wife about this
but I donāt want to discourage fellow readers and especially not Rebecca ā¦ go girl go I didnāt cry about itā¦just a little regret about a lot of things that I bought too expensive, even though I enjoyed them for a while or longer
. buy . buy . buy . buy . buy . buy . buy . buy
JUMP!
I have quite a few signature guitars. Like Richard said, sometimes they are tweaks to an existing ābaseā model, with small details that the artist requested for their playing style and kind of music.
It can be small things - but small things matters! For example, my signature Suhr āPete Thornā is at its core ājustā a nicely build and well-specāed HH super strat. However; Pete requested the wiring such that when you flip the PU selected all the way up, you get the neck humbucker split (for a single coil tone)ā¦ .and in pos 2 you have the full neck humbucker. Normally the wiring of those positions would be reversed.
Tiny detail? Perhaps, but when I want a neck PU tone 9/10 times Iām looking for a single-coil(ish) toneā¦ NOT a fat humbucker tone. And playing live, itās a lot easier to simply flip the PU selector all the way between the two extremes than hitting an in-between positions in the middle of a solo. So a detail I enjoy every time I play it.
Pete also helped pioneer the use of a new kind of locking bridge saddle that improves tuning stability. Itās on his sig model, not on the standard Suhrsā¦
Finally, he has his own signature pickupsā¦ I like the sound of those.
Stuff like thatā¦
3 out of my 4 (4 out of 5 if you count the one I bought for my daughter:) guitars were not planned and I never regretted. Try before buying!
googly eyes and spooky voice
You cannot resist the GASā¦
You can NOT resist the GASā¦
You cannot RESIST the GAS .
oooooOOOOOOoooOOOoO
Get the guitarā¦ Give in to the GAS!
Well it sure looks nice I watched an interview with Francis Rossi lead guitarist of Status Quo he was asked about the signature guitar Fender issued which is a copy of his well worn Tele he said that a lot of people buy these and think they will sound and play like him but in fact they will sound and play like themselves because of the set up and amps and so forth and are usually disappointed So buy it if you like it but you will not sound like Susan Tedeschi and of course you will pay extra for this copy
Nothing against signature guitars.
More than before, artists put extra attention in making it a good workhorse at an affordable price and yet include some features you might only see on certain customs.
You approach the guitar as a package of features and you make up whether the price is worth it for you. I even got a signature guitar of somebody Iām not really that much of a fan of but the vibe spoke to me.
All cool, great looking guitar!
These are the little things that make my (and Iām sure Rebeccaās) life hell!
Seriously- I can see the added value of technical tweaks for an advanced player, but for most beginner/intermediate players the main reason will be emotional bonding. (Which can be HUGE )
Soā¦ā¦.
I do own a signature guitar. Itās a Zach Meyers PRS SE in what PRS calls āZach Meyers Blueā.
I was looking for a new PRSā¦, wanted a hollowbody or semi-hollowā¦ I love blue, itās my favorite color. When the guitar I ended up buying (with Sweetwaterās interest-free credit plan) caught my eye, I checked out the specs, went to Guitar Center to find it there & they only had a used one that was Zachās previous signature PRS. Played that one (it was an unappealing green without some of the āenhancementsā in the newer version) but liked the feel & soundā¦ so I bought it online!
Note: Before that purchase, I had absolutely no idea who Zach Meyers was, what band he played inā¦ nothing - so I am not trying to emulate his sound, I just love the instrument!!!
I say go for it Rebecca - if you love the guitar that is!
Whoās signature model it isā¦ thatās just strawberries on the shortcake if you love the artist!!!
Canāt wait to hear your AVOYP with the newest addition to your collection!!!

David,
There IS free financingā¦ with a caveat.
The deal here is that if you miss a payment, the balance is transferred to the standard interest rate & itās highā¦ about 25%.
I have made several gear purchases this way & never paid a cent in interestā¦ just have to make that monthly payment on time!!! The cool part is that you can sign up for automatic paymentsā¦ they come out of your account on time every time!!!
Tod
You think youāre not paying any interest because it doesnāt show on the paperwork. The cost of the finance is built into the price of the item and then marketed as 0% finance.
They wonāt give you a discount (other than their normal) if you pay for it up front because that would make a mockery of the marketing. So you might as well take the āfreeā deal to spread the cost.
Iāve bought many a machine on finance, with and āwithoutā interest.
Finance companies donāt work for nothing!
This is often true, yet in the case of my stereo speakers they were the same sale price at a couple different online stores, yet those others did not have interest free financing. However, I did end up paying a onetime fee of 2% to get the 3 year deal but with our finances it was worth it to be able to stretch it out over those 3 years.
Ane because @HappyCat requested, here they are:
Now, as to the Tele, I have backed off from pulling the trigger until I have held one in my hands and seen if I like it. If I miss this sale, there may be another, or not, but really, I should do what I said when I wanted that blue PRS hollow body last monthā¦ NOT till I at least graduate Grade 2 and start Grade 3. I hadnāt held that one in my hands yet either.
I do blame my husband for this teapot tempest as I didnāt even know the signature tele existed till he mentioned it. I also nixed going out of our way by going to Sweetwater, it would add a couple hours driving time to day 1 of our road trip not counting the time at the store. BUT if I happen to see a Guitar Center on the drive, and Iām behind the wheelā¦
And addressing any concerns about thinking Iāll be playing or remotely sounding like Susanā¦ believe me, I harbor no illusions.
So, short term, finish Grade 2 and consolidate, I figure Iāll be another 6 months on that (yes, I am slower than cold molasses) and see where I am then. Perhaps I can save up enough money to buy both the signature and the hollow body at the same time! lol
A appreciate all the responses and joking around, you guys are the best. Iāll keep you posted if/when I do the jump.
Thanks
I (mis) remember a Beato interview with Nuno Bettencourt who had a chance to play EVHās (could have been Vaiās?) rig as offered and was intensely dissapointed they didnt sound like their hero even soā¦
Hi Rebecca I am also a grade 2 can I ask what module you are on and what you are finding difficult / Struggling with I am just starting module 11 trying to use the F barre chords into songs, and at the moment concentrating on sus chords which, at the moment, not finding too difficult had a look at the other lessons and pretty sure the finger style will give me problems.
