Another super melody arrangement Sylvia. Well done, you really have a talent for this particular style of play.
Flows very nicely Sylvia. Listening to your piece on a warm and sunny afternoon and it fits perfectly!

Oh oh…Yes! I’m a Great Pretender
oohh oooh oohh ![]()
Thanks Lisa, this one is just a few chords, a very defined melody and a clear rhythmical 12/8 cadence where a couple 6/8 patterns fitted well…so I actually worked it out intituively ![]()

sometimes it happens ![]()
Well I don’t know, I definetely enjoy working out and practicing really a lot…it’s so satisfying when the melody comes out from the flow of chords! Thank you Gordon ![]()
So happy to read this, thank you Richard!
That’s a really enjoyable listen!
Let’s see if arranging and performing it on the guitar will be as much easy as working it out … hahaha ![]()
I’m going to use a 16th notes pattern ![]()

Edit: no, a 8th notes pattern seems to fit better!
I love this!
It’s a beautiful chord melody too, and very well played. You seem to be a natural with them ![]()
Il Valzer de Moscerino was very enjoyable too. Such a cute song!
It was good to read the story of the song. The only word I got was gato - cat ![]()
@AvalonJ Thanks Jasmine, that’s really kind of you ![]()

I followed Brian’s @beejay56 advice and made the simple 123 fingerpicking pattern into 1+2+3+ and it’s so sweeter now! Thanks Brian! I also removed the strumming and did a fancy thing in the chorus like “bass note - hit - hit”…I tried, the children loved the sound of the percussive hit and my colleague approved it ![]()
MAY UPDATE
What a month! I’m too tired to even write an update, but the video contains a great part of it:
-
first clip is one of the songs we learnt for our school party in June 3rd;
-
second clip is what my little ones defined as “la musica bella” - it was at the first rehearsal at the beginning on the month, I said “let’s do a sound-check” and I played a few chords, unespectedly the children started clapping along so I just kept on playing C G Am G - after that they just started to ask me to play “la musica bella” everyday and we started humming/improvising a little melody…eh the voice of innoncence

-
third clip is…the most musical one…not to be attributed to my merit

I also made some chord-melody explorations (more about that in next month update) and I much enjoyed my early morning ear-training sessions once or twice a week. I haven’t been much consistent on Dee…but I know I’ll be back to it soon.
Silvia
As ever, your enthusiasm is infectious. Those slap-strums are very effective and add variation to the accompaniment. The singing is good fun too - your range is impressive. And a marvellous finale from your pupils. Bellissimo davvero!
Brian
Io vuoglio un gato nero then there s a gato bianco , and then non esista piu
Thats what I understood in the first song ![]()
My italian is sooooo poor
the melody is catchy I kept singing it while I was working in my garden
you re a very good guitar player and you sing very well
I enjoyed your video ![]()
Thanks Brian, that’s really kind of you to check my recordings and provide feedback and advice…I did 1+2+3+ as you suggested for the Valzer fingerpicking and it sounds so much sweeter now!
…almost there
I just found out that from the YT setting it gives pretty accurate english subtitles…it’s a fun song for sure, the children love it!
Then you wrote something else which I won’t quote and that made me ![]()
![]()
… but the truth is: I started working on these songs months ago and put a lot of commitment - and we rehearsead everyday in May with the children and my colleague who loves music as well and is very supportive!
No doubt - preparing and playing for the school parties is making me grow a lot. I should find sometime to write about all this after the party.
Thanks a lot Deborah! ![]()

Hello Silvia ![]()
Oh, I really love to visit your log, because your videos always bring such good vibes.
Your performances conjure a huge smile on my face and make my feet tap to the beat.
I‘ve enjoyed all three clips a lot. Your „little ones“ can be sooooo happy to have you as a music teacher.
And we guitar students can be very happy to have you here in the community

hey Silvia
They were all very enjoyable and fun with great vibes ![]()
I’m impressed with your percussive strumming
or is it fingerpicking … ? however you say it, it’s very well played with great rhythm
Also love the children singing
So. Cute!
(with such a beautiful elephant drawing)
@Gunhild @AvalonJ you ladies are so kind… your comments bring much joy to my heart ![]()

Oh no no…I’m still teaching to my own self ![]()
The pattern is from Justin, from the Fingers Strumming Course, but I’m pretty sure it is also in the Folk Fingerstyle Course. It’ s actually a mix of picking individual notes and strumming.
I’m so glad you both mentioned enjoying the Rhythm as I’ve been working really hard and felt pretty much hopeless at the beginning of the journey…but now it seems I’m getting more and more confident along the way!
Yes! It sounds great and you make it seem effortless and easy, although I know that it’s really not.
You’ve inspired me to keep going with the strumming and fingerstyle courses.

I have no idea what you said, Silvia, but I could tell you meant it
. Sounds great!
Major, really serious life issues I can assure you
I see there are quite accurate english subtitles from the YT Settings.
Thanks for listening Kevin! ![]()
