Stairway (I know; I know!) - Acoustic and no solo

Great work Jon. This is a monuental task and you’ve gone above and beyond - using an acoustic AND singing to boot. To put this into perspective, even the great Jimmy himself played it all electric live, and of course he had a Robert Plant to handle the vocals. Lightweight

Thanks guys for the kind comments. Obviously it’s far from perfect, and the advantage of a bit of singling is that it can cover up some dodgy guitar moves - but I have learnt a lot trying to learn this song, starting with what were completely new and impossible chords to me just a few months ago. Having said that, I won’t be trying it in my local guitar shop any time soon. J

Hey Jon, great work. So much progress since your first recording. It’s a big task to learn & record this song. Really well done.

Your progress is truly impressive. This song always brings me back to my first love back when I was 17 or 18. Maybe that’s why I “fell in love” with him. He was a guitar player :star_struck:

Back to you. Great job. I see the commitment in your progress and I enjoyed it a lot!

Jon, your progress has improved so much since your first recording! I can only play 1/6 of stairway to heaven!

Thanks Pamela - yeah, I grew up with Zeplins music and it thrills me (even at my ripe old age) to be able to play such an iconic song even half ok.

Thanks Hans - I have learnt so much learning this song. I honestly couldn’t play a note 3 months ago, but set myself the target of being able to play a bit of it and devoted 15 to 30 minutes every day to its practice - some of the chords and progressions at the start were hellish (and some still are!!). And just like every other guitar song or riff, you just break it down into small bits, learn those really well, and then put it together. I’d love to think that someday I might have a go at the solo, but it’s way beyond me at the minute. J

If you don’t go near it, you won’t learn it. Don’t let it intimidate you. Great job
