May or may not be the case. They say the same about the Squier classic vibe 50s. My tele came with an E string that sounded like a sitar. Fine for playing George Harrison, but had to go to the local luthier to get fixed. So it’s really a lottery.
I do wonder if the reviewers were using random-bought instruments, or ones provided by the company.
What was the fix?
The string slot would have been badly cut. He probably filled the e string slot in the nut with a bit of super glue and bone dust, then refiled it.
I have since bought myself a set of nut files from StewMac so I can do this myself now.
