Hi all!
Is it me or there’s a sudden jump in difficulty in the the “Ignited, The Musopians” lesson in the app in Grade 1, Module 2? All of the sudden there’s a “difficult” strumming pattern, all the lessons previous lessons were strum on beat 1.
Do I need to get this right to move on?
Also a minor UX quibble, I only noticed this because I chose a song to play (2nd last lesson in grade 1 module 2) and it didn’t sound right and only then I thought to press the “Strum” button at the top.

Getting strumming right is very important. I do not recognise the song and do not have the app, I look on the JG website and it’s not in the lesson there or on the Songbook so must be just in the App.
I resume you have been just playing Down on the beat 1, and then this song has D D D D strumming on every beat or D U D U D U D U . strum on Down on the beat and Up on the & of the the beat, counted 1 & 2 & 3 & 4 &

The strumming pattern shown for Ignited is super common, Justin calls it ‘old faithful’.
You categorically do not need to use that rhythm in module 2. A simple down strum on beat 1, or downstrums on beats 1 and 3, or downstrums on beats 1, 2, 3 and 4 are all just fine.
You will learn strumming patterns with upstrums in module 3. You will learn old faithful in module 4. Once you learn more complicated strumming you can go back to these early module songs and apply your new skills.
Thank you , I guess I kind of have a mindset in that I need to “complete” a module before moving on. I should be more flexible with allowing myself to move on to the next module
