Actually, Lisa I do speak quite a bit of German. I just hadn’t read the lyrics. I lived in Basel for 8 years between 1993 and 2000, but then moved to the French speaking part of Switzerland. Unfortunately, although I can communicate easily with people in German, I speak a mixture of Swiss German and High German but I can’t speak either of them completely. When I’m in Germany people really laugh because I have an English accent and then mix in Swiss German words with my German. French is a lot easier

Oh yeah, I totally get that as I was born (shortly before the wall came down) and raised in that part of Germany and English teachers mostly had to rush-learn English during the early 90ies. That’s why even folks my age often have some difficulties despite English being the standard first foreign language at most schools.
Nowadays “the youth” does exactly what would earn you funny looks - using random English words in a German sentence. It is a little weird, but yet amusing.
Yes, this is a neat little feature, but it can be easily overlooked indeed.
It’s cool to get to know a little about you, Ian. I actually didn’t know you speak German. Swiss German is adorable and I imagine the mixture sounds even more adorable with the English accent.
I once was at a meeting in Saignelégier during my days as active biologist (protistology and microbiology to be more precise) organized from folks of the university in Neuchâtel and loved their French accent.

Only… I hope you don’t find this innapropriate…I’m wondering if you’re struggling with noises in the house (I’m asking because I do struggle with that while recording and getting a bit crazy as well) or the water effect is intentional? Either way I thought it was fitting well, adding the special meaning “however the day went just let life flow”.

Oh no, never! There is no need of holding back anything. Even though I am not sure, what exactly is the water effect (need to listen more closely, I guess), you are still right. One of the most annoying sources of noise is the chair I’m sitting on. But in general, the house we are living in currently is definitely not sound proof. I can call myself lucky if I manage a recording without a dog barking - no hurt feelings though, I love dogs!
Thanks a lot, Erion. I’m glad you likes the song. Also, your suggestions float well with my ideas for a layered recording. There’s lots of room for fills and licks, you are right. I also considered adding harmonies, but this will be a lot of trial and error as this is new territory for me.

It’s great to see you continuing to apply everything that you learned from the courses that you attended and delivering quality originals. You can update the text in your profile now to say you’re a singer-songwriter. As for harmonies have you thought about getting a pedal like the boss ve-8 or TC helicon play acoustic.

This is very kind of you to say, Silvia. And summing up like you did is convincing.
Even though I was kidding a little bit with the number question above, it still feels a little weird to me. There are so many incredibly gifted singer-songwriters out there, that it sometimes feels as if I don’t belong there. But technically, you are right of course and I should try a little boldness every now and then.

Here is another new tune which was born during the first two weeks of a songwriting sprint with HTWS. Where the inspiration came from with regards to the topic is probably quite obvious.

And it is a nice surprise to hear a German song here. The lyrics are great and made me smile a lot. Such a perfect song to wipe away the „summer-holidays-are-over-time-to-go-back-to-work“-blues.
