The app is not user friendly in my eyes

I find it difficult to use on my phone. The screen is small and the video doesn’t adjust to the orientation of the direction of the screen…

If I lay the phone down horizontally, the video doesn’t adjust…

As there anything I’m doing wrong? I find this very annoying b/c the screen is so small and I have to squint…

Learning to play this thing is hard enough…

I don’t believe there is, but can I access the app learning lessons on my laptop?

Thanks…

Visibility is much better on iPad but the app still has quirks

All lesson videos are accessible for free on www.justinguitar.com. If you’re not yet using it, I would certainly advise you to do so. Underneath the videos you will find the information in the video written out, which makes it easier to go back if something is not entirely clear. Sometimes there’s even extra info. There’s also a link to the corresponding page on this forum where you can post your questions related to that lesson etc.

the app can be used on Mac with a M chip

I agree, the app is really quirky. I purchased it in April 2025 only because of the “karaoke” play-along feature (which of course is not available on the free Justin Guitar website). I’ve using it on my iPad, but have decided not to renew my subscription because of the many quirks and general “bugginess.”

Right… I’ll look at it…

I just like the app being one video after another… never need to look for the next in a sequence. Is that how the site is?

Got it to work… Thanks.

This is big… Always hate squinting to look on my phone.

Playing w it now, does the app not scroll on the laptop??

Figured it out… Have to hold down the track pad… Very weird… Not user friendly at all.

The app is made for mobile devices, not for laptops/computers. You can install it and work with it on some, like on a Mac with a M1 chip, but it won’t necessarily work like it does on a mobile device. Different operating systems, different specs.

It’s terrible, but it’s great.

The app functionality is bad. Complete amateur tech. Totally buggy. Compare it to loads and loads of free apps available in the world (not just music). HOWEVER…

Having said my peace about that… the app is great for keeping lessons and practice organized and keeping me learning and moving forward at a steady pace. The play along tracks are priceless for beginners practice. I paid for the app, would do so again. My progress has been well worth the price, despite some very frustrating bugs.

It looks to me like the entire JustinGuitar experience…website and app…is in development. So I expect some missing things to be filled in and some buggy things to be worked out in some time. In my opinion, the app is over-priced and I hope it develops further. But, the price of the app is far, far less than individual guitar lessons at the local music teacher. Plus all the free stuff. Actually, Justin’s experience and advice alone is almost worth the whole price. And the positive ethos…in today’s world…exceptionally valuable.

To The Musopians: I will not post up every suggestion I have for app improvements. If you really care about the quality, and the value to your customers, drop me a note and I will gladly communicate with you directly. But…I would expect suggested improvements, if acceptable, to actually show up in the app relatively quickly. No letting stuff stay broken for multiple years. This is the 21st century, catch up. Publish a killer app you can be proud of.

To Justin: Your lessons are beyond great. And…You can’t beg people to buy “your” app, then disavow yourself of any responsibility for its functioning or quality. Totally Lame. Either own it or don’t. Good app developers are aplenty in the world. The app could be so much better, make it fly.

I love JustinGuitar. Great ethos, great approach, great results. I will stick with Justin and team long term. And with the app until I’ve exhausted its content. I’m looking forward to upcoming lessons every day, can’t wait to get to Solo Blues.

If anyone is debating getting the app, don’t be afraid of some bugs. Jump in and rock on. Who knows, your suggestions may make it great!

I hope this message is interpreted in the positive context intended.

That’s the issue… My phone screen is only so big and when trying to look at fingers and patterns it’s very difficult… I got it to work on my laptop, but still…

And yes, I’ve paid $100 for two years of access. I have no problem paying for his work…

I pay for the app as well. I have no problem compensating for the work…

But w the great material the app could and should be so much better and user friendly.

As a senior guy, I find ALL of the apps that vendors put out there are very hard to read or follow on a phone, whether it’s Android or iPhone. So thanks for bringing that up. And as a PC user, I certainly am not gonna go buy an ipad or another device. I do use the Justin app in my browser, so at least I have that.

I have a pretty large Samsung phone, yet when you are trying to follow a lesson, strum your guitar and look and listen to a tiny screen…all at once, it is quite difficult. It’s rather frustrating and limiting (IMHO) to see or hear someone say…“oh, just look at the app”. When I hear that I move on.

nobody forces anyone to use the app … if you dont like it just dont use it !
Many used it and were real happy to have it

@Richard_close2u or @Silvia80 is that possible to avoid this topic to become a rant against the app ?

Do you own stock in the app?

yes… can’t pinch in either to make the video larger… i’m trying to look how his fingers are set up and can’t do it… Seems like it would be an important functionality.

if there’s a specific feedback then you can contact directly Musopia ( tag them ) or @LievenDV
Same if you want to report a bug

Ranting because it doesn t suit your specific need or taste helps no one and just brings negativity !
Its impossible to please everyone and Musopia does not read the forum unless you specifically contact them !

you can also use the feedback hub

https://www.justinguitar.com/feedback

we can help on the forum if you dont understand how it works but if its a matter of your phone being too small , your fingers too big , you re eyesight bad … then there’s nothing we can do about it !

Thank you for that inciteful and thoughtful feedback. Constructive feedback is important to the topic of discussion. If you don’t get anything positive from it, then you can turn it off too.

The fact that Musopia does not read the forum is a hint at the root of some of the problems with the app.
