The holey trinity; (protest song)

This is interesting to me: I tend to think of '60s folk music as the genre of protest music. Think Joan Baez, Pete Seeger, Bob Dylan (ok, also Guccini, if you like  ). But there was another burst of protest music a generation later in another genre: punk. That is probably what brought the heavy electric guitars to your mind.

You’re right John…I was thinking something more like Civil war by the Guns 'n Roses :sad_but_relieved_face:

Sometimes somethings are better left untold…so I’m better not say much about this :zipper_mouth_face::innocent:

Pleeease… Ooo tell me more ,I won’t tell any further and now the most seen this place  …well…uh ,although I have a very small suspicion that Richard is reading along …why would he do that

Greetings :peace_symbol: out :wavy_dash: :wavy_dash:

I wasn’t sure about every word too and was glad to read that it’s not just me who is (me even quite often ) not always getting all the lyrics (and this time, Mr. Larsen you didn’t include the written lyrics).

Loved your song, Brian and I find it amazing how effortlessly writing a song and presenting it via voice and guitar looks for you!

Rogier you’re so curious!! :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: It was just a kind way to say that although he’s been aknowledged as a great socially engaged artist I never much…and anyone is free and has the right to make music the way he/she likes after all

Do you think there would be anything wrong in intruding a bit upon Brian’s Thread as he does with your LL? :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

Greetings :peace_symbol:

Or perhaps We Won’t Be Fooled Again by The Who. As we’re all being fooled.

@pkboo3 Thanks, Pam (DM sent)

Good!
Funny- I was always aware of the 60’s folk/hippy protest movement, but my experience (and enjoyment) flowed in the angry, loud tsunami of punk of the 70s.
In my old age almost all the songs I sing are some form of country

@domi7 Herzlichen Dank, mein Freund

Mission accomplished in that case
I put a lot of time and effort into producing things that I like to think appear were ‘spontaneous’. All of us have an image we’d like others to have of us…

I usually do, but only put them up on YouTube this time, to avoid content discussion here )

It depends on

who’s doing the bombing and what they are lobbing…
You have a ‘free pass’, Rainbow-hands

Who?

Oh Brian, I literally laughed out loud when I worked out what the ‘bleep’ at the end was. You’ve clearly got the golden ticket now as both Richard and David have given you a free pass.
It’s taken me a few days to come across this latest offering, so the others have covered all the fertile comment ground! However I’m again in awe of your ability to write a song and then perform it in a totally entertaining way.
This one was particularly good and of course I long ago realised you lean left of centre. But what’s a label? I’ve played golf several times at Trump Turnberry but that doesn’t mean I’m a …………oops. :face_with_open_eyes_and_hand_over_mouth:

Glad you enjoyed it, Gordon
I think the mods give me loads of rope in the hope I might hang myself one day
There is method in their madness though, as I’m much more likely to censor myself than have others do so for me…

Something that says Best before: [enter date]
I’m past mine, but hopefully still safe for consumption…

I love the song and I also have shirt jealousy.

Great story telling @brianlarsen . Your voice fits that folky style of music.

Haha, that was a birthday prezzie from my next-door neighbour who died from cancer a couple of years ago. (I used to give her a hand every now and again). It’s well-past its sell-by date and should have been ‘recycled’ long ago

@simon_plays_bass Ta Simon :grinning_face:
Much appreciated
I’m half-contemplating giving it a whirl at the local OM tonight, but we’ll see. All my sprogs are home for my eldest daughter’s birthday…

Food for thought. I have the first line of a chorus to respond musically. Let’s see where is goes, maybe in the dust bin of other half-written songs. If I get too stuck I will share with the forum to finalize.

Interesting perspective, worthy of inclusion.

Clint, consider this my written authorization to put my commentary to music. I only ask that you send me 5% of the royalties.

If you keep putting odd socks in the drawer, eventually you’ll start getting matching pairs

OK, the lyrics and chord progression are complete. Running them through various AI generators to see what I can get for free. So far two good ones but none are free. Music production via AI is definitely getting better.

No not a word, but the shoe may or may not fit ideologically

I match socks by thickness not color.

You, Sire, are a legend! Also very well played and performed!

Edit: I just listened to the song 5 times, to make sure not miss or missunderstand a thing only to realize you had a link to the lyrics all along. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Very helpful, but didn’t change my mind.
