Too many guitar pedals?

NPD x4, I was working hard on trying to make this a x5 edition, but I hesitated a little too long on a b-stock UAFX Golden Reverberator and it got away from me.
This is going to be the heart of what will eventual be either a stereo or a wet/dry/wet setup.

I can quit any time I want to, I swear I can!

I made myself a board and got most of the Behringer pedals to see what effects I liked. I figured I could replace the ones I really liked with better versions - BUT, they are generally very good! (I have no idea what I’m doing musically, but they are fun to play with.)

Hi Scott!

I recently purchased my 1st tube amp, a Harmony H605… my other amp is a Boss Katana 50 with a boatload of effects included, but my tube amp only has reverb.
So, I want to dip my toe into the pedal pond… but am thinking about Behringer… are you pretty happy with the quality you’ve found? My pedals will only be used at home… no gigging or playing with a band on the horizon & so I’m not really worried about the plastic vs metal boxes themselves, just the sound quality. I’ve seen some YouTube comparisons & the Behringer pedals seem to receive pretty favorable reviews. What’s your take - do you think you’ll eventually replace them with something else/better? I’d appreciate your thoughts!
Thanks!!!

Tod

Hi Tod,

I’m really happy with them. I’m not a sophisticated enough listener to hear the difference. I tried a Boss delay Vs the Behringer delay in a shop. The sales guy was gushing over the Boss, demonstrating the difference. I genuinely could not hear any. I’m sure a gigging professional would differ, but for me playing with pedals at home, 25 euro Vs a hundred or more for essentially the same sound is a no-brainer. IF I were gigging, and if my guitar playing was good enough to warrant it, I’d probably upgrade at some.point for the solidity of a more expensive make. But that’s years away, and in the meantime I’m learning about the effects. I must admit it has distracted from actually learning to play, so I routinely plug in clean to my Fender Champion 50. Ironically I mostly use the tuner with a Donner loop pedal to play over my own backing.

I’d say, for the money, they are a brilliant way to learn what it is you like, find your sound and go from there. Zero regrets.

Thanks for the input, Scott! I buy gear from Musician’s Friend online here in the US - they give out points for every dollar spent & right now I’ve about $100 to spend… not only that, they will expire if I don’t get new gear soon!
So, I was thinking about the Boss Blues Driver & then saw the cost of the Behringer line… I can get 1 pedal or 4 pedals…
Hmmmmm…
Also, Boss has the Angry Driver - they teamed up with JHS & built a pedal that is basically an Angry Charlie Overdrive & a Blues Driver combined… that one looks pretty good too…
Then today I see that the Blues Driver is out of stock…
Too many choices out there - what’s a poor, confused guitarist to do???!!!???!!! :man_shrugging:

I’m leaning towards the Behringer Solution & saving up for the Angry Driver - after all, I’m an Angry Driver while behind the wheel - use my ā€œDriving Fingerā€ as Justin calls it quite often!!!

Thanks,

Tod
