Where can we see the answers to see if we got it correct???
Isn’t Lucky man four chords?
The lesson doesnt really cover how to actually do this? how do you work songs out? just listen and kinda guess?
I get: start simple, just the suggested songs, so i know its one of the chords we have learnt so far. but any system to work out the key etc? If the answer is “using your ears” I think i need to trade them in…
That’s where a bit of theory can help. For example, if the chord progression you’re working on has 2 major chords a tone apart (e.g. C and D), there’s a pretty good chance that those are the IV and V chords of the given key (G major in this example). Similarly, if there are 2 minor chords a tone apart (e.g. Em and F#m), then they are likely to be the II and III chords of the key (D major in this example). But this requires the chord progression to be a diatonic one, i.e. all chords should be part of the same key. A very large part of popular music uses diatonic chords.
Over time, you will find it easier to find the part of the fretboard where a certain chord or melody is likely to be played. Also, by starting out with the “basic” open chords learned in Grade 1, you will focus on chords whose sound has become somewhat familiar to you.
Of course, guessing is also involved unless you have perfect pitch (the ability to name a note you hear without reference to musical context) and know how to use it.
there is this of course:
I’m finding this one the hardest lesson so far. I’ve been around it for hours now and haven’t been able to get a single one fully right (sometimes I got some chords right and others wrong, other times I missed the first chord and got a progression that corresponded with the intervals of the original, but obviously wrong). I was able to transcript power chords, melodies and riffs quite easily, any ideias on how I can improve on this one?
that didnt go well.
