Not a whole lot to update. The F chord is improving. The feeling as I play the F chord has changed, it now feels like just a normal chord that I am bad at playing versus this huge obstacle. So that is probably good :).
level 0: 5 (down 9 from last week)
level 1: 82 (down 23 from last week)
level 2: 268 (down 32 from last week)
Total: 355 (down 64 from last week)
Things are probably going to slow down. I am collecting a large number of the more difficult songs and I practice them every day before moving on to new songs which gives me less time for new songs. I also have a number of songs that I just like playing:
Boulevard of Broken Dreams
Heart-Shaped Box
Flowers
I am OK with the app progress being slow. I am still playing every day, I am playing songs that are a challenge, I feel that my playing is getting better every week, and I am having fun.
Nice Trevor. Nirvana thats some good feels music. Heart Shaped Box is a great one.
Its good to play Alt tuning, especially if you want to play 90s stuff. It really sounds good, and lots of different stuff.
As a matter of fact, Richard one of the instructors is doing a live lecture on open tuning on Monday the 12th. You can register at that link. You may think about cheaking it out, if the timing is bad, all of these lessons are put in the archive section, so you can watch after. There are a ton of really good ones.
Great job with the F Chord to, once you get you that F chord down start moving it if your haven’t already. You will see its just 6th string root note.
Work that other stuff in the lessons also. Rythem and finger use, back beat, muting it all helps. You are probobly ready to be ripping through grade 2. Honestly with the type of songs you are playing at this point you most likley would be ready to be trying at grade 3. You will stoke on it, its good stuff and will give the fundamentals to play most of these songs that you are already doing.
Anyway just giving you some stoke bro. I was taking a break from my blues Blim class stuff and playing a bunch of Nirvana this weekend. I have an electric and acoustic tuned down. I saw your post was fired up for you. Keep up the good work.
Really great advice. I will check out the lecture. Thank you!
I think so also. In fact, your comment has inspired me. Going to record myself playing 5 grade 1 songs and will post them here. Maybe one a week for the next month. These aren’t going to be perfect, but rather a “snapshot” into my abilities as of that date. Once done with that I will move one to grade 2.
