Hey Richard! It’s pretty amazing what the Multi-FX & the Trio+ can do to the acoustic. Nice!
While I did understand nothing about the tech you’ve been using I can say I much enjoyed the listening…I like how the melody is articulated and how the different sections are linked. Good to read you had fun with it!
Nice work, sounds very light and fresh! It makes a change from hearing heavier stuff for me, sometimes I forget that this sort of style can also sound good!
I’m very impressed by what the Trio can do, it would probably save me some headaches in the stuff I do, but I don’t think I can justify spending anything else just yet .
Christmas is just around the corner
Christmas is already spoken for - and yes it is guitar related
Well that was a jolly laid back little romp if ever there was one. Nicely put together Mr C, now my dusty Trio + is giving me the daggers, sitting at the back of the desk side table - along with my equally neglected DigiTech JamMan Stereo Looper.
So much fun to have teaching a little black box to play bass and drums ! Everyone should try one at least once.
Nice one sir !
Thanks Gordon. Enjoy your Trio+ adventures.
A few little boxes on my desk and I can sit back and relax and let the tech take care of business! Thanks Pam.
Thanks Silvia.
In brief …
Trio+ … when you play a chord progression in to it, it hears the changes and creates a drum and bass backing. There are many parameters you can change but that is the basic. Then you can record multiple guitar parts over the top using its looper function. So it ends up sounding like a full band.
Multi-fx - this adds any effect you want, on acoustic I use just a subtle bit of reverb and sometimes chorus. I added boost for the lead guitar sound.
Thanks Darrell. I was going for upbeat.
Thanks Toby.
A romp … I’ll take that haha
This is interisting, thanks for explaining as I often read these things mentioned. This Trio+ must be fun for songwriting…if I remember well James @Socio you got something of this kind a few months ago?
Hi Silvia, I got one just over a year ago. A few month ago I got a Boss JS-10 which is more backing track orientated practice tool. Interestingly, the Trio + has been hiting the youtube recently. This teacher who I’ve noticed follows Justin’s posts recently did an unboxing and demo of it.
Holy cow.
That’s just today.
I can’t wait to see what he does with it.
But … Tomo … stealing my Vintage Club #19 thunder.
Pah!
haha
Thanks James, might be something for me to explore in the future. I know this teacher… I saw a few videos from him in the past and I liked them.
Well. I have to say, what an awful demo of the Trio+. He’s trying to switch it on and off using his thumb. The thing is basically unworkable unless you use the additional footswitch. His explanations are also very poor.
Loads of other far better tutorials out there.
To be fair he’s only had it for a couple of days and isn’t as tech savy as you my good friend
Haha. As you well know James, I’m not in the least bit tech savvy.
But I’m not posting a tutorial video.
I’d settle for a blues improv demo. It’s been a while since you fired up the trio. Hasn’t Richard’s post ignited your trio fires again?
Absolutely!
This is not an ‘unboxing’ event, purely for the entertainment-
He’s trying to demonstrate how it works and hasn’t a clue…
He has my light ‘flashing fast’
Having said that, I’m glad he’s positive about it and plays well.
Actually he has! I promise my next AVoYP will feature my Trio+. Probably not a blues though.
I couldn’t help myself - This pony’s gonna learn a new trick!
Lyrics
Mr. Coles
Calling Mr. Coles to the playground
The lesson’s over join the fun outside
Welcome Mr. Coles to the playground
It sure is nice to have you by our side
You lead us round in circles counting up to five
And teach us how to substitute our chords
Running after- school clubs, not just the nine to five.
The ingrates - still shout out for more
Chorus
Pat-a-cake, pat-a-cake, guitar man
Write me a ditty as fast as you can
Eeny, meeny, miny, moe
Gabba Gabba Hey! Let’s go
Chorus
When kids are misbehaving you can spot the fool.
A gentle word will always set things right
The seven years I’ve known you, you never lost your cool.
Even (religion/cussing/politics ) won’t start a fight
Calling Mr. Coles to the playground
Remember to write and play your songs
Won’t you stay in our playground
You never know who might just play a long
I’m lost for words Brian.
Jeez Louise!
I’m humbled, heart-warmed and gladdened in equal measure at the inspiration you have taken and the creativity you have sprinkled.
You’re inimitable and we wouldn’t want it any other way.
Smiling lots am I.
ps
Here’s a little trick that is a doozy.
F#7 → Bm
It is the note E (being played here on the open E string up top) that makes the b7 needed for F#7.
It might help to think of it as a 4-finger Fmaj7 shape moved up one fret.
Hi Richard,
Hope you are well.
If this was heavied up a bit I could hear it having a Thin Lizzy vibe - get those twin electrics going.
Loving the bass.
