I posted an updated recording today with the guitar tuned in D so I could sing in the right octave. You could try that Ian.
Also, it’s easier to sing standing (although it’s harder to play

planned to try it, but did only shortly so it wasn’t working well for me yet. But I tend to hammer with my pointer finger like Justin, but then for me it works nicer to set the pointer finger one string further instead of using the middle finger (on 2nd fret D string) and mute the fifth with it (as Justin stated he just heard the highest four strings ringing)
I know I want to work more on finger gymnastics again, rarely did this lately. Until then, the above method works nicer for me.
Which WhatsApp channel? Is there more than the club channels. ![]()
Yes I know that, but I’ve been meaning to post a full song on the forum as I never posted an AVOYP yet and I’d like to do an open mic sometime in the near future.
If we were voting on it, I’d vote for the 2nd option too ![]()
Sing it with the capo, go for it!
Plus I don’t mind the sound of a ukulele
but definitely not offended that you prefer your guitar to sound like a guitar ![]()
But also,
Yes, me too ![]()
I think I might get level 1 to where I’d be happy with it by the 12th
I love that it’s a party ![]()
@jvlynch - hi Jim - thanks again - I did give it a go - I set aside an afternoon but only got to the first few bars of the solo and then had to call it a day - but as it’s a lottery I’ll keep my

Hi Jasmine, I think the deadline is the 11th for the Challenge, it’s what @larynejg wrote in the original message (post 1);
but in the e-mail Justin invited us to upload a video in December
Here’s what he writes:
Anyone who uploads a Wish You Were Here video in December will also be entered to win 4 free 1:1 lessons with a JustinGuitar Approved Teacher.
Ian @Prof_Thunder, I didn’t get it…I agree with Brian and Jasmine that using a capo would be the right option for you.
My own number Jason, it’s just to have the clip there so I can access more quickly to it when I need it ![]()
oops! Thanks Silvia! ![]()
I should have double checked the date! ![]()
Oh, I’m puzzled now. I thought it was the 10th, because the webpage states “before” 11th: ![]()
Deadline: Upload your performance before December 11, 2025.

But they probably meant “until / including” december 11th? @larynejg
Hi Silvia, thank you! I got the tip for clipping videos from you.
It’s so easy to create a clip for practice, but many people don’t know about this option. Anyone can create their own WYWH level demo from Justin’s video with just a few clicks and save it as a bookmark in their browser or send it to themselves in Messenger - for their next practice session.
Ahh I see. Whats app is great for A/V sharing.
Your comment did prompt me to go and look at all the amazing uploads. Wow there are so many already.
It was exciting to see so many community faces. They all sound so great ![]()
I have been practicing this song some and working towards a version to record and post. I really wish I had played this one before this cool challenge and contest.
I am at a point where there is such an over whelming amount of songs I want to learn to play now that I have a hard time deciding what to work on.
In my head when working on songs.
Oh that song… wait that one too, yeah this song is amazing also (types furiously into ultimate guitar). Omg thats a great song I heard on the radio on drive a min ago, whats the chord progression like sounds like its in Key of A? Wait, didnt they tour with xxx in 96, I need to learn that song that was big that year.
Honestly this is a great place to be in my guitar study. Not so much as a ADHD guitar student trying to build a solid repertoire though. Anyway back to Another Brick In The Wall.
Just joking. Wish You Were Here.

So relatable Jason! And isn’t it also great to be like that, just feeling the enthusiasm and fancy to learn this and that song…and wait a minute, what about this one?! ![]()

Now…everyone…there will be a Club session on tuesday hosted by Lee with tips and tricks to help us record our rendition of WYWH ![]()
Well i got mine up. It took 11 days to learn it. Whew its tough i felt like a bit of pressure was on especially after I said “I was familiar with the song.” Once I actually started trying to sing it, I was only really familiar with the chorus part.
It was a ton of fun. Learning it and playing it. Mine can certainly use a good bit more of practice. At least it was sort of recognizable. I really enjoyed everyones uploads. I am rooting for all the regulars to win the big prizes.
Question Right now my video is awaiting approval, Does anyone know how long it takes for Mr Gilmore to watch them and give his approval? Haha I’m joking about Mr Gilmore.
Good luck everyone.
hahaha
I uploaded my video too ![]()

It really was fun to learn, I found the istruction so clear that I learned it smoothly, 2 bars at the time, in only 5 days, but only the intro at level 1 ![]()

Did the upload too. I learned it previously with the old Yound-Justin-sitting-on-the-floor videos :-), but of course hadn’t played it enough, so forgot some parts. In the new one there were a few new and more accurate explanations, so it could sound as close to the original, as you can get with only one guitar - many thanks !
I saw yours it was great. I love your big smile at the end.
Oh, that was hard! Had a good start with practicing, but in the end I couldn’t get it nicely together in time! ![]()
I managed to learn the intro but got as far as the upload to YouTube part
