What are "Classics" of this decade?

This decade? Bit to soon to be finding classics. I’ll come back to this post on 7 years, assuming anything floats my boat. :sunglasses:

Mention Top Classic Guitar Songs :guitar::ok_hand:

It’s interesting. I remember walking through a local music store checking out CDs back in my last semester of University (I was a late bloomer and didn’t graduate until I was 40) and Nirvana’s ā€œNevermindā€ album was playing. I knew as soon as I heard it that there was something special about it. Of course, I bought it. To this day I consider it special.
In the 80s there seems to be a steady flow of new musics that simply reached out and would grab your attention, your feelings, and your flow. And a lot of that music, for myself personally, that came out up though the 90s still has that affect on me.
Then after 2000, nothing really stands out. Yeah - Gangham Style. That isn’t to say that there hasn’t been some catchy stuff released. There has. But nothing that reaches into your soul and imprints itself there. So I guess music-wise, I’m stuck pre-2000. Which is why now I’m primarily drawn to Jazz exclusively. I can still get lost in Jazz, both classic and contemporary. Pretty strange for a guy who spent most of the 80s immersed in the East Bay punk scene although I did hit Jazz clubs in the Bay Area back in the 1980s as well. It was an incredible time for live music entertainment in clubs.

A few I can think for the 2000’s are

Coldplay - Yellow and The Scientist.
RHCP - Can’t Stop and By the way.
KT Tunstall - Black horse and a cherry tree.
Puddle of Mudd - Blurry.
Evanescence - Bring me to life and My Immortal.
Justin Timberlake - Cry me a river.
Train - Drops of Jupiter.
Jose Gonzalez - Heartbeats.
Outkast - Hey Ya.
Jamiroquai - Little L.
The Killers - Mr Brightside.
Orson - No tomorrow.
Hoobastank - The reason.
Nickelback - Rockstar.
The Ting Tings - That’s not my name.
Fall Out By - This ain’t a scene, it’s an arms race.
The Fratelli’s - Chelsea Dagger.
Audioslave - Cochise.

There are others but you can’t go on forever.

The 2010’s, well nothing much springs to mind. All a little samey and nothing I can think of for the last three years either.

Gawd I’m getting old or something. I don’t know any of those artists with the exception of hearing the name Outkast. Oh, and Jusin Timberlake although I’m not sure I’ve ever heard anything by him. When I hear his name I think of Brittany Spears who is water under the bridge.
Well, the newer ā€˜classics’ will be enjoyed by a generation other than mine.
So? Back to jazz.

A lot of good suggestions have been made so far, but a few others come to mind from artists I haven’t seen mentioned yet.

2000s
My Chemical Romance - ā€œWelcome to the Black Paradeā€ or ā€œTeenagersā€
Linkin Park - ā€œIn the Endā€ or ā€œNumbā€
Lady Gaga - ā€œPoker Faceā€
Eminem - ā€œLose Yourselfā€
Johnny Cash - ā€œHurtā€
The Strokes - ā€œLast Niteā€

Anything more recent than that is harder for me.

I would consider this the ultimate classic of the 2010s but of course, I’m biased towards the monkeys

Lonely boy by The Black Keys is another one I’d put up there though
