A great guitar solo from a great song by a great band, Chicago, 25 Or 6 - 4

Oh wow! That’s a lot! That’s such a shame.
The venue they’re playing at here is open air so all the tickets are general admission and all the same price.
I personally blame the streaming platforms that don’t pay the artists fairly. Nobody, or hardly anybody, buys albums anymore so artists (promoters/ producers?) charge more for live shows.

Sultry hot night in Normandie so trawling the toob for songs I may have missed - not one to hit subscribe, likem follow as you’re relentlessly told to do - so a recap threw this gem up from Evanescence.

Whoa this was an interesting revisit 32 years after the BD single came out. One of the first songs I tried to learn in '96 and presented some lashed up recordings on these pages over the years - thankfully old forum and not visible !! Anyway found this more orchestral approach quite engaging but sorry the original can’t be beat - I tried I failed !!

Original from the wonderful Balls To Picaso album.

Even the video is better 3 decades on !!

I have not heard this song in so many years, I had forgotten about it.

Brother Maynard is a busy, busy man. He’s going on tour with two, yes. two of the three bands he fronts!

Seeing TPR in early June. Will report if they play any of the songs from the new album :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:!

And he is doing martial arts and having a vineyard I think! Madman!

He does have a vineyard. It is between Sedona and Prescott here in Arizona. Maynard is often there when not on tour.

I could easily spend a month on that beach. Lovley song and a nice guitar playing on it.

Edit: I love the surfboard rear view mirror in their van. I found where you can buy them. There are a few places. But this one is pretty local to me.

I know what you mean. It is beautiful, isn’t it  There’s some really lovely coastline around here. There is just something about the ocean…

The surfboard RV mirror is pretty cool!

Another Maphra gift from my daughter. Well outside what I would usually be listening to and unlikely to feature in my Spotify Blues Rock playlists but wow the vocals are incredible.

Out of character I also searched for the original source and found that equally captivating. But felt Maphra goes above and beyond.

So much music so many boundaries. Open your soul open your heart but most of all open your ears and mind !!

Simples.

I was spinning Wunderhorse’s 2024 album Midas yesterday and enjoying it. Here’s the title track.

A beguilingly simple song from my friend and hero, Mickey Newbury. The song and the arrangement are a sad farewell to the era of 'flowers in our hair.

I first heard about Tom Moriarty recently as he opened for Philip Sayce in Cardiff.
This song ā€œMe and the sunā€ stuck with me. One for the long list of nice things to learn.

Proof that the 8-Track was not entirely useless as a medium for music.
