When does one actually need a tremolo bar?

ah came here to give that example as well.

Different types of guitars, styles and tremolo bar types…

They all do the same but the applied force and speed matters

hi all.
I watched a Jeff Beck concert on tv. I have liked his music back from my
( sadly, long gone ) youth but this was first time seeing him “live” .
His use of the bar is so subtle.
Seeing his style of playing after hearing so much of his music was inspiring.

As has been said above, I always associate the bar with 50’s and 60’s music. In my mind the best music there is, but others may not agree  :guitar: :guitar: :sunglasses:

I tend to prefer a fixed bridge, but I do like the Bigsby on my Gretsch.

My main guitar is a standard strat, with the tremolo bridge. I don’t use it though, and actually lost the bar long ago. So, last time I had it set-up, I had the bridge set tight against the body. It’s not blocked in or anything; I think he just adjusted the springs to hold it pretty tight. I’m happy with it like that for now.
