Hi
I signed up at the start of the year. I’m on grade 1 but as the year has went on I’ve found myself more resistant to practice as it’s become more challenging.
Should I start again at thr beginning of Grade 1 or would private lessons help jump start things???
Thanks
It looks like a question of motivation for @LievenDV
When we play guitar we have to set a goal : why do I play ?
what is your goal ?
what can make your practice fun and motivate you ?
do you learn songs ? playing songs is always more fun than practicing technics
there’s also this video that might help you

Good questions @GrumpyMac
Trying to find out what feeds your intrinsic motivation is key now
I too wonder what you do for fun when playing guitar?
Are you playing some songs you like?
Do you have bigger goals on the horizon but you need some assistance in finding the steps in between?
Where in the course do you feel you’ve got stuck? Perhaps something in that area is dimming your motivation.
Hi Conor stick in my friend some good advice above play on cheers HEC
Hi Conor, I’ve gotten stuck a couple of times on my journey. There have been various reasons: life, wrist injury, just the normal “I’m feeling uninspired”. What they all have had in common is the resistance to practice. With that preface, I’ll suggest you might start at the beginning of Grade 1 again. I did this with Grade 2 when I was stuck, and it felt great. For one thing, I realized I had learned things. The lessons felt less daunting than the first time through, which was inspiring. And importantly, I was able to make some improvement on the skills I already had. For me, that was motivating.
Another thing that might help if you are able, is to sign up for a couple of 1-1 lessons. Justin’s approved teachers are fabulous if you don’t mind on-line lessons. A word of caution here, though: if the teacher is not a good match, move on and don’t let it get you down. I went through two in-person teachers before I began working with Richard.
Super thanks . Great advice
