Hey guys.
I was a bit lazy over the last month and haven’t been playing much during that period.
It’s been a while since I’ve had anything to post, so I had some time on the weekend and decided to try out this song with a vocal track that I found.
The track had a loudish drum beat that I sort of tried to tune down, which may have possibly distorted the overall sync a bit
The picking pattern that is used for the majority of the song is essentially the same one that Justin teaches in his tutorial if anybody is interested in giving it a go.
Feel free to drop some comments or feedback. Cheers
P.S. For comparison, here’s an old video that I did of this song. W.T. - Guitar practice, old recordings - YouTube
It’s just the guitar without any tracks added… not much difference to the picking, but a slightly quicker tempo when looking back at it now.
Hi Sandro,
That was wonderful this afternoon, …can’t remember Justin learning those melody notes, I’m going to look that up and try to apply it too,…very nice,…the backing track could indeed be a bit better…
Good you are back,…
Greetings,Rogier
Lovely playing there Sandro, some really intricate little details in there, thanks for sharing and updating us with how you’re doing. It may seem a little harsh to say it as I enjoyed it so much but it seemed you fell a little behind the backing track in spots? Not that it took away anything imo!
Bravo
Your doing really well, Sandro. Like @DavidP I enjoyed that you played the melody. The backing track shows that your picking at the songs BPM and takes effort to maintain the picking pattern, fretting arrangement and tempo. I’m not so fussed that you had technical issues syncing the backing track as your guitar is your band and the melody is your singing and it was wonderful tonight.
@roger_holland The general verse picking pattern is from Justin’s tutorial. but I honestly can’t remember where I got the melody note part from… probably from one of the UG tabs (?). And then I might’ve just put them both together at some point and it stuck with me whenever I play the song ever since.
And yeah, I’ll have to start practicing more stuff with backing tracks whenever I get chance. Cheers
@Notter thanks Mark. Not harsh at all, I absolutely agree. I think I overcompensated slowing down my picking in parts to match the beat and definitely fell behind in some spots. I normally have a slighly quicker tempo in my picking when I play through this piece on my own… so I’ll have to find a better balance somewhere in between. cheers
@DavidP cheers David. It’s good to crawl out of the woodwork and pop by again, as it has been a while. Glad that you enjoyed this one.
@Socio . Thanks James. yeah playing at my own tempo without any backing is usually more my thing
But I remembered from one of my previous post’s that someone suggested to experiment with adding tracks to give the playthrough a bit more context, so I decided to toy around with it. Cheers for the compliments though mate.
Defiant enjoy that! I like the small variations in you picking pattern. I have been starting to practice this with the one Justin recommends, but just using the same pattern through the entire song is less interesting. I hope you don’t mind if I use your video to embellish it a bit! Thanks!
