Over 20 years ago I was inspired to learn how to play guitar by various music channels on YouTube and the awesome movies ‘Pick of Destiny’, ‘Crossroads’ (1986) and Jeff Healey in ‘Roadhouse’ (1989).
Knowing little to nothing about buying a guitar, I purchased an Epiphone Dot Studio semi-hollow body electric because I loved the way it looked (I got lucky because I now use it as an acoustic and it still serves me well). I also bought a “Yamaha Walmart Special” because it looked cool and came with an amp (Barbed wire strings included!).
Skipping any proper lessons, theory or general chord knowledge, I jumped right into using YouTube to teach myself how to poorly play:
Wish You Were Here
Over the Hills and Far Away
Yesterday
Who Do You Love
Take It Easy
Thunderstruck
Atomic Punk
Etc…
Then as life happened, my guitars were never unpacked as my then future wife and I relocated over the years.
Skip ahead to the present, I’ve decided to pay respect to my old beloved Epiphone by learning how to properly use it. I’ve also recently purchased a wonderful Squire Affinity Telecaster Deluxe (charcoal frost metallic with laurel fingerboard) and plan to pair it with a Fender Mustang LT25.
