I started playing at 18 after my aunt, who played guitar, looked at my hands and said “you’ve got guitarists fingers.” I thought, ok, I’ll give it a shot. But I fell into the trap and after three lessons told the teacher I wanted to learn Sultans of Swing…never applied myself to learning the foundations. My ten lessons never even covered basics like picking technique etc…
Abandoned guitar for years and came back to it about 3 years ago and started working on foundations: picking technique, theory, etc…
I love Dire Straits, Pink Floyd, Santana, Sonny Landreth, Blues Blues Blues, McLaughlin (especially with Shakti), Allman Brothers, Rush, Jazz, etc.
I also studied the Pipa, or Chinese Lute, and took formal lessons with Gao Hong (look her up on youtube youre jaw will hit the floor! I abandoned this as well for years but plan on starting up again now that my guitar foundations have been built .
My hope is to play in a band. For fun. I played pipa with 3 percussionists for a belly dance troupe and that was great fun.
I’m a herbalist, wilderness therapist, HeartMatch Coach and have three kids.
