Hello, I’m a 71-year-old American expat living in Thailand for almost thirteen years. Thailand is a great place to live, especially if you’ve had to ‘half your half again.’ I got into music as a boy while lying in bed with (I forget – chicken pox or measles) and not allowed to do anything other than listen to the radio. I still listen to rock ‘n roll, especially the blues-rockers, but I also like a great many other genres as well. But if there is a guitar playing I will probably like it.
I am finally getting around to doing things that I’ve always wanted to do but lacked either time, money, or energy, and sometimes all three. I have managed to get around to some of those things, like riding a motorcycle, and now it’s time to get back into playing guitar. I have no aspirations of becoming a performer. I just want to sit at home and play songs that I like.
The photo of me is when I was sitting in a field of sunflowers at Inle Lake in Myanmar, 2020. I was waiting for a repair to my motorcycle, which had a flat tire. In rural Asia, one of the skills you will master is learning how wait… gracefully.
