I retired a couple of years back (2021) and have been mostly filling my time with volunteer work. But then I ran across an article speaking to the fact that there’s no better brain workout than playing music. Recalling that my father had a great voice when he was younger, I wondered if I inherited any of it from him. Heck, I’ve got plenty of time now to find out! Toward that end, however, I needed some form of accompaniment. Piano seemed the natural choice (it was for my father). But the music that really hits my heartstrings is almost always centered around a guitar - so why not that? So for Christmas 2022 I gave myself an inexpensive dreadnought. A day or two later I stumbled upon your website. It’s been an adventure ever since trying to learn voice and guitar at the same time.
I’ve got a long (infinite?) way to go both vocally and guitarically (is that even a word?). But I’m finally over the hump of being able to strum and sing at the same time, and that puts me in a very enjoyable place while I continue to find my voice.
