Hi.
I am a bit of a tumbleweed. I am a 7th generation Kentuckian - and I enjoy the bluegrass/new grass/Americana mash up - everything from David Bromberg to Molly Tuttle to The Milk Carton Kids.
I was raised not far from New York City and have seeing Led Zepplin, Pink Floyd, Jethro Tull and others in my claims of musical fame.
Went to undergrad in New Orleans and loved seeing Professor Longhair, The Radiators and of course The Neville Brothers. Also liked the Zydeco and Cajun thing.
Grad school in Montana where I further studied geology and supported myself by being a live in caretaker on a llama ranch.
I adulted in Vermont where I met my wife. We moved to Seattle for a few years then back to Vermont where we had three kids.
Got itchy, quit my job, and we took kids out of elementary school for a short while and home schooled in camper whilst traveling the American southwest. I learned Spanish and moved to Mexico.
Then Durban South Africa, then Cape Town South Africa where I sit now. I consider myself a very slow learning intermediate guitar player, in spite of having a guitar in the house for a lot of years. I appear to be retired now so have been putting time into improving.
Wow…I would not say this post is boring necessarily but a lot more about me than any of you care to know. I look forward to interacting with you and hope I can make some contribution to your musical journeys.
Cheers!
Michael
