PURPOSE
To become proficient enaough on the gutar to create a playlist of about 10 or 12 songs to leave behind to my chidren and grand children.

BACKGROUND
Began playing guitar in July of 2022 at the age of 67 years old when I took my grand daughter for her lessons.

Music has always been a large part of my life and I have 2 hearing aids to prove it :).

I took lessons when I was about 10 years old in Detroit and quit shortly after beause the lessons were boring and focussed on structure and theory. I got bored.

I tried again in 1974 with a base guitar thinking that would be easier. AGin playing did not come easy or naturally so after about a year i gave up. Is till have my Vox Hollow body guitar though and may eventually give 4 strings another go after I feel comfortable enough with a six string.

In a short 12 months I’ve collected a nice arsenal of guitars hwihc include:

  1. Baby Taylor Travel Guitar

  2. Taylor 324CE Urban Ash Builers Edition

  3. Rogue Dreadnought 6 string- Cheap guitar that I bought for my grand daughter. She does not use it so this is my experimental guitar which I use to fiddle with adjusting set up, adjusting truss rod etc.

  4. Fender Vintage II 1951 Telecaster- all built to original specifications; an heirloom guitar and one of my many pawn shop purchases. It’s a beauty!

  5. Conn Classical Guitar built in 1971 in Japan near Nogoya Japan. I call he Shu short for Shu Ha Ri whihc is the Japanes expression for the art of mastery. It comes in 3 phases 1- Learn the fundamentals (Shu) 2- Mastery, become precise and excellent with the fundamentals discarding techniques that do not apply to your vision and goal (Ha) and 3- Make your own rules; Once the fundamentals are mastered beging to create rules and techniques particiar to your individual style. This guitar is a lady and I treat her gently! Another pawn shop special

  6. Alvarez K Yairi DY45N- built in 1983. This is the one! Hand built by master luthier K Yairi in his workshop in Japan and his team it is of Mohagany sides, back and neck and Canadian Spruce top. I call this one Ikigai whihc is Japanes for find your passion or Raison D’etre. I can play her gently or hit it hard and she always responds. A real gem! ANother Pawn Shop find.

  7. Vox Hollow Body Bass Guitar (1973) JApanes made this one is with my son in Pittsburgh but I have to take it to a luthier. The action is WAY high probably from improper humidification. These guitars are know for the body to bow in or out.

If I could do my inventory justice I would be a great guitaris.

SUMMARY
Entering my final chapter I’ve committed to myself to have a guitar in my hand every day, if even for five minutes to practice scales.

My goal is to play/practive 500 hours per year minimum and 5,000 hours lifetime.
