1/2 chords

I’m pretty much exclusively learning from the app. What I’m a little confused on is for example in lesson 7 in the song by Pink let’s get the party started. We are using Old faithful as our strum. But in the app it shows half of a strum and then moves on to the next chord. So to be a little more clear on a single line it moves from a minor to d minor.

I can definitely hit in grade one over 30 chord changes a minute now on any of the chord combinations.

Trying to change chords in the middle of the Old faithful strumming pattern isn’t working for me. And to be honest he hasn’t shown anything like that on any of the videos. He shows almost always in grade one finishing the full strum and then moving on to the next chord. This exists in a lot of songs in a grade one.

If someone could give me some hints or if there’s a video out there I missed on how to do this I’d greatly appreciate it. This is my biggest sticking point now.

Thanks for all your help always appreciate it.

When you get to a chord change that is is only 2 notes its like a 2:4 pattern. Just abandon the old faithful strum momentarily. Go through the chord progression with down strums on the beat until you get to the next chord in the progression that is the full bar and resume old faithful.

Cheak out the Outkast song, “Hey Ya” and justins lesson. Its the perfect example.

Once you can make those 2 beats sound super smooth and its sounds killer.
