Not sure if anyone has any experience with this but we have a situation where we need to connect the standalone Amp/PA unit to a house system mixer. The problem is it is a 30mtr cable run and my concern is that there is too much loss over this distance .
Does anyone know if this is possible or if it would need some kind of intermediate box?
I would expect that a 30m run should be ok as long as you are using a balanced cable. Typically Iβd expect to see XLR (one XLR per channel), however you can achieve exactly the same result with balanced TRS if your mixer supports that. Note that this is different from Stereo TRS or mono TS. You would need one balanced TRS connection per channel.
If it is a house PA they should have all cables need already run up to the stage.
It is a safty hazard to run cables on the floor in a venue and the responsibility of the venue to make sure all cables to their PA are not a tripping hazard.
Paulβs right the distance isnβt a problem with TLR cables
