You’re doing really well with this. One way to help singing and playing is to practice them separately. Record the guitar track and sing over it: record the vocal track and strum over it; then the two will fit more easily together. I never thought I’d enjoy a Smashing Pumpkins piece as much.

My first thought was ooh love the song. You have the riff down. I suggest to Work on the dynamics of the song just a bit and it will be a gem.
Nice job Colin. Vocals and playing is tough, and you did good. Your guitar was on point. So nostalgic also. I mean your intro literally took me right on back to the early 90s. Such good feelings and that decade was an absolut blast. I don’t even know how I survived it.
Have confidence in your vocals. I don’t think you sound bad. We always think we sound worse than we do because we often belive we should sound like the artist. We never will sound like them, we sound like ourselves paying homage to these artists. It’s ok not to mimic them, we all have out own style to add to music we love. I think the original artists usually would encourage that too. For us as vocalists, I think once we allow ourselves to accept that concept, we become better vocalists and artist in our own right. That’s my opinion at least, I had it long before I picked up a guitar. If you want you can try practicing the song more without the guitar andnyou can try and recognize the note and see if theybalsonfollow the notes in the scale or note. Obviously thatnidea ofnmaking it your own might be different in a hard core tribute act.
Great job so stoked you posted that. Keep it up. And keep kicking butt. ![]()
Edit to make certain things more clear.
Thanks for listening and huge thanks for the advice @beejay56. I’ll record the guitar part and try to focus on improving the vocals.
Thanks for the feedback @SDKissFan!
Thanks for the feedback and advice @Ontime! I really appreciate it. The 90s were indeed peak music!
There’s surely room for improvement Colin, but I found it already a very enjoyable listening.
Thanks for listening @Silvia80!
Well done Colin.
I agree with Brian. Putting the 2 together is just a matter of practice.
It was an enjoyable listen.
