5 Licks From Each Pattern

I’ve memorized all 5 pentatonic patterns, with the blues notes, took a big chunk of my time memorizing the 5 licks in each pattern that Justin teaches, played them over tons of backing tracks to learn how to work them in, how to change them up to my liking, etc.

Throughout all of these lessons, Justin has mentioned multiple times that these licks are common in the blues, that they can be heard all the time when listening to the blues.

Well I’ve been listening to a lot of blues, including literally every single album recommendation that each of these blues lessons contains.

I don’t recognize any of these licks in any blues songs I’ve heard, except maybe a couple. I’ve heard something somewhat close to a few other licks, but that’s it.

Has anyone been able to actually spot any of these 25 licks in any blues songs they’ve heard?

Hi, Jesse, that is a very good question and I don’t think I can answer it correctly, I know what I would like to say, for example, if I played I could maybe feel some of the lick patterns in my fingers the way they lead up to parts of what we have practised but this is not going to answer your question, after I have answered you I am sure one of our teachers or better players will come and help you out Cheers Hec
