Everyone probably knows the Hendrix version of Hey Joe…nostalgia day for me today…I decided to cover the old school Leaves garage band version I played back in the 60’s at frat houses our band used to play at…no vocals this time…my voice is shot.
That was cool. Thats for sharing.
Interesting, I must say, nothing I could expect as I don’t know the version you mention in your comment. However it’s always nice (and quite refreshing) to hear another approach to a well-known song.
I myself have recorded a few versions of Little Wing, also dissimilar to Jimi’s version. BTW, the chord progression in that song is one my favourite BTs for improvisation I may upload a recording next month.
Yeah, that WAS cool…
Enjoyable to hear another version, Jim. Well played and produced.
Thanks for sharing that original version.
I also like the Deep Purple Mk I version
Thanks for your kind words, David…completely agree on the Deep Purple version…I heard Deep Purple play Hey Joe live in 1969 at a concert on the same bill with Iron Butterfly (who did a 20 minute version of In-a-gadda-da-vida!
Wow, that must’ve been some concert!
