That’s a fun video, Michael. Combining football and guitar - my two favorite activities. I played in leagues in Santa Barbara, CA from age 19 to 54 and coached youth teams and I follow the European leagues closely. Liverpool FC fan
so I’ll be cheering against your squad from 8300 miles away a couple of times this year. Sorry. I can play “You’ll Never Walk Alone.” What is Sunderland’s song and can you play it?

My footballing career does not come up to yours, I played in the school teams and turned out for the University’s 7th Team once (only because they were short of numbers). This was in the late 60’s early 70’s and I never had one minute of coaching; you just picked things up as you went along. It is so different now there are many local teams for boys and girls of all ages with a coaching, and the very good ones get picked up by the professional clubs and join their academy. We have had players who made it into the first team who have been at the club since the age of eight!
I don’t know if you realised but Sunderland and Liverpool are on Pre Season tours in the States and played each other last weekend, Liverpool came out winers,
Last season we drew with Liverpool at Anfield, but you beat us in the return fixture ending our season long 7 month home unbeaten record, quite an achievement for a newly prompted team.
Your mention of the team song is an interesting one and very current given that they were in Nashville, the song is Elvis’s “Can’t help falling in love with you” known colloquially as “Wise men say “as it is the first line. The history is interesting Sunderland and Hull were playing each other a few days after Elvis’s death and for some reason both fans sang the song. Both teams adopted the song over the years, perhaps more so Sunderland. Which brings me on the Nashville connection in that The Elvis Presley Estate have collaborated with Sunderland for the use of the Elvis connection on this seasons away strip which copies the outfit that Elvis wore on his last performance, so I am told.
Do I play the song and the answer is yes; it is one of songs we did at concert at last year. So I can play it strumming and it is on my list to be play it fingerstyle.

PS it is Leo Hjelde playing Wonderwall at 4.04, he certainly has the rhythm but don’t play the song so not sure about the chords but it sounds OK.
And we have Chelsea and Spurs here in Australia. Watched them play last night in Sydney. (Spurs were down to 10 men but managed to scrape a 2-1 win in extra time).
