Messed around with learning Guitar for about 4 years , even had lessons. Loved joining jamming sessions around the BBQ with my musical buddies on fishing trips. Tried to learn more off all those web sites/ YouTube, even run into Justin once or twice, but the screen is not really for me ( spent too many years sat in front of a computer)
Then one day I found myself outside a tiny music shop in Attleborough Norfolk, England. Needed my 2007 Taylor acoustic restrung, so in I went and the owner was very helpful, sorted the strings and we chatted and I explained that I was a little despondent and lacked direction how to improve, was considering taking lessons again. He asked me one simple question, "Did I want to know the best thing Ā£20 could buy that would help me? Well of course! And thatās when I was introduced to Justinās āBeginners bookā, That was 8 Years ago and I still prize it, refer to it, re-visit it, its a bit worn, filled in , scribbled on, but on that day, thanks to that little music shopās owner (now closed) i improved, learnt and love to ruin great songs, use the website courses and generally love Justinās style and teaching methods.
So its a big thank to him ( never got his name) and a huge thank you to Justin! Peter
Hi Peter, its nice to read your story and I agree with all you say, Justin and his team and this community is all you need, all be it I have been missing from it for awhile, so welcome and its really good to meet you cheers HEC Newcastle
Iāve got mine from something like 14 years ago, dog eared and well worn and very much worth every penny.
I found my copy of the Beginnerās Course with CDs in Chimes at The Barbican in London several years ago. That was my intro to Justinās songbooks, website, etc. Also got the Intermediate Course book.
Welcome, Peter ![]()
Whilst Iām sure Justinās books are fantabulous, Iām equally sure they are nice āaccessoriesā.
Itās his personality/philosophy, coupled with his natural teaching/technical ability that are the essence of this superb free website (supported of course by his team and community).
And yeahā¦
Thanks! ![]()
