Is there any specific way to keep your guitar clean? While I only have a beginner electric guitar the screws on the board are starting to rust.

Sorry for the late reply. A beginner (I assume you mean cheap) guitar will likely have screws with poor quality chrome plating. There’s no real fix for that other than replacing the screws with better quality ones. You can buy replacement screw packs for electric guitars.
