@DeltaTyne Hi Hec, this is an amazing project and I wish you luck on the final finished acoustic guitar. It looks like a LOT of steps in the process compared to an electric guitar build, so I know that you have to be patient and careful. It looks good so far to my untrained eyes. I look forward to seeing your progress as you reach the finished guitar.
Thanks, Steve i haven’t done this before so I will keep at it I do follow a book and drawings but it is still hard work, to me anyway cheers Hec
This thread escaped me!
It looks like a great project. I have discovered that recovering from mistakes is as important as avoiding them. ![]()
Yeah you are right there Mark, I took 6 month off to concentrate on Blim 1, so I am just getting back into it, it is not an easy task, but I hope I am successful and get to play this guitar And it nice to hear from you again mark so all the best to you and your family, I will be posting more soon it inspires me to keep going Cheers Hec
Awesome topic, thanks for sharing!!
I have really noticed a trend of how many people have had to take time away from so much other stuff to do Blim. I have a lot of projects going. I guess the next 6 month are going to be sleepless. I maybe sitting in BLIM3 as well as Blim2.
I need to get my electric SSS fixed asap.

Hey Hec,
Thanks for sharing this!
Point taken! And I appreciate your help.
Ok, back again after feeling terrible over the last few months, so I started on my guitar again, and I must admit I so enjoyed today, after uncovering it, I sanded it, then made the bridge back plate and fitted it. Let it dry, and I will continue tomorrow. Cheers, HEC.
Great, I have been wavering about what to do myself. I thrilled you are going to this, awsome choice. Looks fantastic.
I fell off it due to bad health, Jason, like I said first day back on it, and I really did enjoy myself, I had to drag myself away. But I need to keep going at it because I have always dreamt of building my own, so I will keep at it, it is a promise ![]()
So today I took the cast iron and weights off, and to my surprise the wood was stained from the iron even though I have sandpaper on the bottom of the Iron as I use it to sand flat surfaces, not good anyway, I will have to sand it clean again. You can see from the photos how I trace the patterns onto plain paper, I then stick them to rough cut shapes, and I prepared the tone bars and strengtheners. That’s enough for today, cheers, HEC
Long day today, and I also came up against a lot of problems with the drawings and explanations from the book, so that caused unwanted work. In the end, I had to just make my own decisions, but I will see if it was worth it tomorrow, cheers as usual, a few pics
I did forget to mention I had to do 2 small repairs as well, got some practice in before I do the bad one on the other side
Not much to share today, apart from I feel much better about this build, it seemed to fall into place when I uncovered it and started to clean it up, I felt content, cheers HEC
This looks so complex and difficult to do, I am in awe.
It is not too bad, Adrian. I am mechanically minded, but in metalwork but it is still a bit of a challenge, but it keeps me going, cheers HEC
So today all I did was ponder over the book and the drawings, no disrespect at all to the author of his book, but wow, I can see lots of little flaws that leave you to sort out yourself, and if you are not smart, you will not get there, so the book could be updated. But still a good book to build your own cheers, Hec
Again, today has been a fun day. All I have done is read drawings, mark the soundboard and end block and neck, and check all dimensions and measurements not twice, but umpteen times, just to ensure I am certain in my mind I am right before I finally go for it and join them together, and then at least it will look like a guitar hopefully cheers HEC
Thanks so much for sharing this project! It is so cool to see what goes into making an acoustic guitar. And, while this is way beyond the limits of my skill and patience, it is a reminder of how simple an acoustic guitar really is, which only reinforces the magical feeling of making music with nothing more than vibrating wood and strings. Thank you for the updates and all of the pics!
